The obvious germ factories are well-known: cutting boards, carpets, shoes, hands. But there are many seemingly innocuous sources that can make you very sick. Spring is the time to emerge from hibernation and rethink cleaning habits with an eye to health.

Fewer trips to the doctor mean fewer medications, which in turn mean more money in your pocket.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - San Diego County District Attorney Bonnie M. Dumanis announced today that a grand jury has indicted the owners of Good Neighbor Services as well as six accomplices for a massive, ongoing insurance fraud and tax evasion scheme. Two defendants, Hyok "Steven" and Woo "Stephanie" Kwon, own a janitorial company that provides cleaning staff to major hotels across San Diego, Los Angeles and Riverside Counties, including The Hotel Del Coronado, Loews Coronado, La Costa Resort and Spa, The Grand Del Marin La Jolla, L'Auberge Del Mar, The Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, Hilton and Hyatt hotel chains.

The Kwons have been indicted on 11 counts of workers' compensation premium fraud, 18 counts of payroll tax evasion and one count of extortion. The investigation uncovered a methodical and systematic shell game involving six straw owners. These straw owners were used to conceal the existence of hundreds of hotel workers to avoid paying millions of dollars in insurance premiums and payroll taxes. If convicted of all charges, they each face up to 31 years in prison.

Cleaning Services Provider Refused to Hire Qualified Male for Janitor Job Because of His Gender, Federal Agency Charged

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Executive Management Services, Inc. The 2012 city contract with United Maintenance was for $99.4 million, a payout that has since ballooned by nearly $8 million in 2017.

“United Maintenance came in and underbid the contract right off the start to get the work,” says Tom Balanoff, president of SEIU Local 1, the labor union that once represented O’Hare’s janitors. “And then they turned back on the city and said, ‘Okay, now we got the work — give us more money.’”

United Maintenance also came under fire in a 2015 federal lawsuit, filed by some O’Hare janitors accusing the firm of wage theft. The company settled the lawsuit last fall for $850,000 but admitted no wrongdoing.

While you’re clearing out the old and bringing in the new, take a moment to look around and check on the other things that you have stored in your house and garage.

Cleaning products and potentially hazardous materials should be kept in their original packaging with labels. If not, spring is an excellent time to label them and make sure everyone knows what’s there. A bottle without a label might be mistaken for the wrong thing. So, if you find something mysterious, label it or dispose of it.

I'll be the first to admit that I have more than a few "clean freak" habits. For instance, I almost always change my toothbrush after a long trip,

and I put the water bottle that I travel with in the dishwasher several times before I actually begin to use it again. After watching countless people wash their dishes with the same dirty one over and over again in hostels (and then leaving them in the stagnant sink water — yuck!),

The global janitorial services market is primarily segmented into two categories: residential and commercial. The residential market consists of maid services, window, carpet, window and other services. The commercial cleaning segment primarily focuses on window cleaning, vacuuming, floor care, and related services.

Among the two segments, the commercial segment accounts for a relatively larger share of the janitorial services market. Janitorial service is a highly labor intensive market and growth of the market largely depends on growth of the real estate market.Due to its dependence on the real estate market, the janitorial services market suffered a downturn during the economic recession post-2008. The market also suffered a decline due to collapse of various mortgage obligations. Many government entities and industrial companies make a long-term contract to clean facilities, such trends help in the growth of global janitorial services market.

Students of Savoy Elementary School in Southeast D.C. have not had class at their own school in weeks. They were forced out because of a monthslong infestation of bedbugs, rats and mice.

For the last several weeks, students attended class at Ferebee-Hope Elementary School, located about five miles away from Savoy, while the school was thoroughly cleaned.

In addition, new carpet was installed and all soft materials such as carpets, cots, blankets and pillows were replaced, according to the school’s Facebook page.

QUEBEC — A school janitor who recently won $60 million in the lottery with his wife said Monday he has already called his boss to say he’s quitting.

The couple from Saguenay, 200 kilometres north of Quebec City, say they still don’t know what they will do with all the money, which they won in last Friday’s Lotto Max draw.

Lotto winners Carl Villeneuve and Marie-Josee Picard

“It’s a bit surreal,” Marie-Josee Picard told a news conference at the Loto-Quebec offices in Quebec City, adding she and her husband, Carl Villeneuve, are still in shock.
