Using green, eco-friendly cleaning products can improve the air quality, reduce health and environmental concerns and sets the standard for environmentally responsible behavior. Contributing to a well thought out green cleaning practice will benefit not only client, but it will also ensure that you are reducing your impact on the environment. Your clients will appreciate this and maybe even start using green cleaning products themselves!

To implement a good green cleaning service program you must first conduct an audit of the facility or area in which you have been hired to clean. This will help you assess which areas need the most improvement and build a comprehensive plan around this. Next is to train the cleaning staff with the use of chemical and equipment handling and cleaning procedures. Afterwards, review the progress to make sure the green cleaning program is successful and implement any changes.

There are differences in cleaning chemicals compared to natural green products.   Cleaning chemicals have many harmful effects on human health and the environment.   Natural green products are safe and protect the world from respiratory and skin problems.

The toxins in products that contain chemicals can cause liver and kidney damage.  Some chemicals have also been proven to cause brain and nerve damage.  As well as increase the risk of cancer.

Natural green products can reduce or eliminate the harmful effects to human health and the environment.  Your health can be improved by going green and reduce sickness.  They have been proven to improve the overall air quality, which will help with respiratory problems.  They are gentle on the skin and can eliminate skin irritation.

You have the ability to protect yourself and others from the harmful effects of cleaning chemicals.  Visit the IJCSA Green Cleaning Service Directory to find certified green clean services.

Here at Intec Building Services, we plan on implementing a GREEN cleaning program both for the safety and overall health of our customers, employees and the environment. Being in the janitorial business for over 35 years, experience and research has proved that cleaning chemicals are loaded with toxins and can produce harmful effects to individual’s overall health and to our environment.

Many common cleaning chemicals such as general purpose cleaners, Windex, oven cleaners and even simple air fresheners can cause lung and eye irritation, headaches, dizziness, shortness of breath, burning of the skin, cancers and can poison humans, animals and plants.  Said chemicals will ultimately end up in our rivers and streams causing irreversible effects on our environment.

Here at Intec, we strive to be a socially and environmentally friendly and responsible company, which is why we are choosing to go GREEN!

Using green cleaning ingredients is the way to go when cleaning for consumers.  It is much safer and it is rarely known if someone has a medical condition that may be exacerbated by using harsh toxic chemicals.  Most people don’t prefer a strong-smelling chemical whether it is used in residential cleaning or commercial cleaning.  Using green solutions makes me more environmentally responsible.  Using green earth friendly ingredients saves money for business owners as well as their customers.

Finding a green cleaning service is the best option for customers and business owners alike.  The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has a list of green cleaning ingredients that they approve of.  The EPA has a safer choice label to identify products certified by them as environmentally safe.  There are legal requirements for products that can be used at schools and child care centers.  I wouldn’t want my child exposed to a toxic chemical that may cause them serious harm.

There are ways to find a green cleaning service.  One way is to search the IJCSA green cleaning service directory.  There are hundreds of green cleaning companies listed in the directory including Green Clean Ohio and Newline Eco-Friendly cleaning services.  There are many more with green cleaning certifications.  Using a certified green cleaning company shows responsibility on the consumers part too.

Having a green cleaning program is beneficial to my business because of its positive effects on the environment and people’s health.  It will reduce exposure to hazardous chemicals.  It reduces issues with breathing. Indoor air quality will improve by reducing particles.  It is much safer for pregnant women and cancer patients.

Using a green cleaning program is much cheaper than using toxic chemicals.  It improves the cleaning process and system.  Improves maintenance and how equipment runs.  It meets legal requirements for use in schools and other settings.  It will lower the risk my business has within the community.

You would think that the cleaning products that are easily sold in your local grocery store are safe but you may be wrong. Studies have shown that chemicals found in common household cleaners and cosmetics contribute to diseases. Not only have these chemicals shown to be a burden of disease but also economic and environment cost.

A study in 2010 shows that endocrine-disrupting chemicals have lowered IQ points and intellectual disability. These chemicals have also been linked to obesity, autism, heart disease and reproductive toxicity, let alone the effects it has on your skin. A lot of these chemicals are meant to break down grease and grime and are very abrasive.

Fragrances added to many cleaners, most notably laundry detergents and fabric softeners, may cause acute effects such as respiratory irritation, headache, sneezing, and watery eyes in sensitive individuals or allergy and asthma sufferers. The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health has found that one-third of the substances used in the fragrance industry are toxic. But because the chemical formulas of fragrances are considered trade secrets, companies aren't required to list their ingredients but merely label them as containing "fragrance."

We can protect the environment by not using petroleum-based products, which contribute to the depletion of non-renewable resources. Phosphates is another famous water pollutant and are commonly found in laundry and dishwasher detergents. Too much of these chemicals can make our water very toxic to both humans and wildlife.

Green cleaning products are not only safe for your household and environment they are also cheaper. One of the common misconceptions is that natural, green products are more expensive but in the long term they actually save you money. Natural cleaning products include vinegar, lemon, borax, castile soap and baking soda. These ingredients have never been marked as harmful and are most likely in your cabinets now.

So instead of waiting for these chemicals to become illegal, make the switch now. When looking for green products to use, choose products with plant-based, instead of petroleum-based ingredients. Another good sign to look out for is the "keep out of reach of children" label and other tell-tale hazard warnings.

There is a lot of cleaning chemicals with volatile organic compounds or (VOCs) such as ammonia and bleach, when mixed together gives you mustard gas. A dangerous concoction that can have catastrophic consequences and death.

Chemical education is detrimental and you must know how to use your chemicals. Some chemicals can contribute to allergic reactions, headaches, breathing problems, past studies show link exposure to chemicals from cleaning supplies to occupational asthma.

Chemicals like degreaser are harmful as well some absorb into the skin quickly and may cause liver damage if overexposure occurs. Read all MSDS sheets and get familiar with them be safe.

Cleaning chemicals like Perchloroethylene which some dry cleaners and spot removers for carpets is a neurotoxin and is a carcinogen.

A Healthier choice is green cleaning and green cleaning ingredients. Keep our environment clean and havea  much safer outcome for years to come. https://www.ijcsa.org/Green-Cleaning-Services for all your green cleaning needs.

The benefits of having a green cleaning program in place are numerous. The green cleaning practices span such a wide spectrum of environmental concerns such as employee (and client) health and well-being, by virtue of cleaning agents being consciously manufactured to contain low allergens, and being non-caustic, non-toxic, and containing 100% biodegradable cleaning compounds.

Moreover, there are other practices that will greatly benefit a cleaning services such as, Installing the proper floor mats at every entryway to trap dirt and other pollutants from entering the building, and using only HEPA filtered vacuum cleaners to prevent dust from kicking up and being breathed in.

In summary, the dirt that is removed must be discarded into a location that is far from the facility you are working on. By using cleaning agents that are 100% biodegradable, you can be assured that you are being a responsible cleaner and steward to the environment, and community by choosing and implementing a green cleaning program.
