Environmental. Our impact on the environment we now know can and will cause issue for those generations to come every little bit we do to help reduce the harm placed on the environment reduces our foot print on the world. Saving the planet for future generations is key to a healthy future for all, this benefits everyone now and for future generations.

Health. We have learned that the chemicals of yesterday have the ability to do and cause great harm to people and our pets and when you own a business and/or work with chemicals daily it is good to know that you, and those that will come into contact with what has been cleaned, are protected and safe from any harm due to chemicals.

Business advantage. Businesses do not have to adhere to Green standards and if they do they let people know about it. So, when a potential client sees that you are green clean certified that gives you an upper hand over those companies who do not state they are, because they are not and nowadays with the knowledge out that caustic chemicals are and have harmful effects people are concerned.

Assurance. When I clean I know it is cleaned safely, I know others and myself are protected from the harm that can be caused, I know that I have done everything I can to help protect our environment. These assurances make me feel better and that shows in my work and my attitude towards is much healthier towards work and this can be seen by the client. That helps with customer satisfaction a goal we must all strive for.

OCD Cleaning is about a healthier environment for our client’s, their workers, ourselves and our planet. We all know that cleaning properly promotes a healthier space, but when caustic and harmful chemicals are used other health factors are introduced. Then while the work space is clean of germs and bacteria the chemicals left behind can have immediate or long-term effects on those who encounter them.

OCD Cleaning prides itself on the fact that we implement Green cleaning practices which means more than just utilizing Green chemicals. That is why we are Green Clean Certified with IJSCA.ORG .

OCD Cleaning not only uses Green Products exclusively, we also avoid the use of throw away cleaning products, set up a recycle program for trash created while cleaning. Finally, we utilize recycled goods whenever possible to replenish bathroom and kitchen supplies in the client’s space. As we all work to help reduce our foot print we leave on the environment

Our certification from IJCSA allows our clients the peace of mind that their work spaces are safe, and OCD Cleaning is doing everything in its power to protect our environment. If you choose to go with another company hopefully you will choose one of my competitors who adheres to Green Cleaning Practices.

When shopping for a company to clean your office you should consider a company that provides a “Green Solution” Like many of the companies listed here https://www.ijcsa.org/Green-Cleaning-Services

Why should you consider a “Green” cleaning provider - Caustic/harmful chemicals can have an immediate or long term effect on humans and our environment. I can remember when growing up in the hotel industry we had chemicals that I was not allowed to get near or use because they were so harmful they could eat through your skin in moments. Did they clean well? you bet they did. But they also left behind harmful residues and gases, I can remember having to open all the windows for a few hours to allow those to clear and one of our products actually ate through the plastic container. Times have changed, and we now know that these older chemicals have some very harmful side effects associated with them. From Cancers to poising our water systems and ground.

If you don’t want to believe me just do a google search and you can find many articles like the ones listed below.

When you go with a green cleaning provider you have the assurance that the space you are having cleaned is being done with safety in mind. So, when you are searching for that next cleaning company please consider one of the many great companies listed here: https://www.ijcsa.org/Green-Cleaning-Services

Go with a Green cleaning company so that you can be assured they are going to be using safe cleaning solutions and recycled eco friendly products.

Purchasing Green certified products from an authorized dealer who has a full line of cleaning products is the first step in making certain you follow “Green” cleaning program. Reading the labels of everything purchased and ensuring the product is clearly marked as a Green qualified.

Avoiding the use of throw away cleaning products helps reduce our global foot print on the environment. Also setting up a recycle program for trash created while cleaning. Finally utilizing recycled goods whenever possible to replenish bathroom and kitchen supplies in the client’s space.

The real value of this green cleaning certification depends on how this knowledge can benefit my customer.

These are the steps that I will follow to implement a green cleaning program inside my company.

The first, is tell the customer about the new green cleaning certification.

Second, Inform the client about the benefits that a green certified commercial cleaning can bring to them, employees, and the community.

Third, explain what is green cleaning.

Four, talk about the safe products that we use and give them a list.

Fifth, communicate with the employees the importance of safe and natural green cleanings.

Sixth, after the first cleaning get a review from my customers  and employees to see if they prefer the natural cleanings over the hazardous chemical cleanings.

Seventh, spread the word that our company now only uses natural cleaning practices that are safe for everybody.

Getting certified in green cleaning will benefit me for the rest of my life. I was affected by the wildfires in Malibu and almost had my house burned down. My house was completely filled with smoke and it is still a process of getting everything back to normal. Driving around Malibu so many homes are burned to the ground, foundations are filled with toxins, and the air is very polluted. Green cleaning cannot only improve the quality of my life but also my community.

My work environment is a high school where my cleaning practices are affecting hundreds of students everyday. There has been many outbreaks of the flu virus in the school because lots of the custodians do not have good cleaning practices.  Using green cleaning products would be highly beneficial for the schools because it is cost effective. In the Malibu schools lots of parents try to sue the district, so by having green practices it reduces liability.

Having my first child has really changed my life forever. I am so hyper aware of everything he does. Now I really have to be concerned about how I clean the countertops and wash his clothes. I did not realize that common laundry detergents have chlorine in them. I now have learned that I can go outside to my lemon tree and use a lemon as a cleaning agent. I also learned to have minimum exposure to metals around children.

I grew up in a poor town in the Philippines, I was never taught about green cleaning and green products. My family would just use what was readily available. Through all this knowledge I have learned I can teach my family members who are here in the states and also my family who are still in the Philippines. Such simple things can be used for green cleaning. Just boiling orange peels can be used as a green air freshener. Green furniture polish can be made from olive oil, lemon, and vinegar. It is so easy to look up green companies by going to the IJCSA Green Cleaning Directory located here: https://www.ijcsa.org/Green-Cleaning-Services

Green cleaning has changed my life for the better and hopefully it will change you life for the better too!

This isn't an intervention for those poor drinking habits, although there is scrutiny of alcohol. There are a few things you may ponder when told an increased risk of cancer is associated with the manufacturing of Isopropyl Alcohol. Can this affect me? Maybe you remember reading the name on different ingredient lists (also called propanol, isopropanol rubbing alcohol.)

Alcohol Isopropyl is a petrochemical. Through skin exposure some people react with signs of redness, itching, and/or rashes. The petroleum based chemical, like other solvents, has displayed brain and/or nerve damage with repeated exposure. Some study shows buildup promotes illness in the body. The IJCSA Green Certification course offers the suggestion to replace Isopropyl Alcohol with ethanol or 100 proof alcohol in solution with water. A place where harm can be limited is important in the Mixology process--how products are manufactured and mixed.

Many more hazardous chemicals exist in the cleaning industry. Remembering toxins may be difficult for most. Common names to avoid are Chlorine, Ammonia, and Flouride. Chlorine and Ammonia are both listed on the EPA's Community-Right-to-Know list as toxic chemicals. Author and Doctor John Yiammouyiannis estimates between 30,000 and 50,000 people die from fluoride poisoning each year. Found in drinking water, an acceptable concentration of 1 ppm isnt farm from 2 ppm which starts health risks.

In short, everyday cleaning products are assembled with toxins. Harsh toxins exist in places you may not expect. Harmful effects of using everyday cleaning products can involve irritation to the eyes, mouth, nose, throat, and skin. Additional complications may cause eye damage, lightheadedness, confusion, memory loss, headaches, and more. Possibly some of the most important means of damage are VOCs. Volatile organic compounds are the solvents and other compounds which evaporate into the air and help supply the formation of smog.

Compared to popular everyday cleaning brands, natural green products hold much more value. There is potential to reverse the harmful effects of everyday cleaning chemicals with natural green ones. Common household ingredients for natural cleaning can be lemon juice, conventional and electrolyzed water, borax, vinegar, salt, mineral oil, baking soda, washing soda, vegetable based soap, and plants with high saponin levels. Using eco-friendly products over name brands yields health benefits, increased morale, improved productivity, cost savings, improved community relations, and environmental gain. People who use the right products can be found under Green Cleaning Services
