I believe that knowing the importance of cleaning of both employees and staff about bloodborne pathogens could means life or death. As employees and staff, we play a super important role in maintaining our health and safety in various environments specially when bloodborne may be present. knowing this is important because in these pathogens may be Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV which can cause serious health consequences if we are exposed to them. For these reasons, it is really important that cleaning personal must be educated about these risks as we may encounter potentially infectious materials in our daily assignments.

According to OSHA, " Bloodborne pathogens are microorganisms found in human blood and body fluids that can cause serious diseases when exposed" As employees and staff we must understand the dangers associated with bloodborne pathogens and for this reason we play super important role in taking the appropriate precautions. We must have an effective training on bloodborne pathogens especially the cleaning staff because this will help us to know what to do when we are expose to these pathogens. For example, we will know what personal protective equipment to use such as the kind of gloves, masks, goggles, and so on.

It is really important that cleaning staff must be educated about these risks that we may encounter because could be the difference between life and death. I believe that we must follow universal precaution such those provide d by OSHA which are specific standards for both employer and employees. For example, we fallow the "OSHA Exposure Control Plan" which is guideline that will help us to reduce the likelihood of exposure and maintain a safer work environment. If we follow these cleaning universal precautions established by OSHA, we will know what protocol to follow, report incident promptly, and Appy preventive practices which could be the difference between life and death.

Bloodborne pathogens are microorganisms found in human blood and bodily fluids that can cause serious diseases when exposed. Examples of such diseases include HIV, Hepatitis B, and AIDS, which pose significant health risks to individuals who come into contact with infected fluids.

As cleaners, we face potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens when tasked with cleaning and sanitizing areas that may contain bodily fluids. To protect ourselves, we must follow universal precautions—treating all blood and bodily fluids as if they are infected. This approach ensures we take the necessary steps to minimize risk during our work.

To promote safety on the job, OSHA has established specific standards for both employers and employees. By implementing these guidelines and adhering to a universal protection plan, we can significantly reduce the likelihood of exposure and maintain a safer working environment.

Why Is Green Cleaning So Important To Every Living Creature On The Earth?

Green cleaning is not just a trend—it's a crucial movement towards protecting our environment, health, and well-being. As our awareness of the harmful effects of traditional cleaning products grows, it’s evident that green cleaning practices are not just important for our homes and workplaces but for the entire planet. By using eco-friendly cleaning products, biodegradable solutions, and sustainable techniques, we reduce exposure to toxic chemicals, which can harm both humans and wildlife. These chemicals, often found in conventional cleaning agents, contribute to air and water pollution, as well as soil contamination, putting every living creature at risk. When we choose green cleaning, we make an active decision to preserve the planet and protect all its inhabitants from harmful toxins.

The health benefits of green cleaning extend beyond just avoiding hazardous chemicals. Natural cleaning agents, such as vinegar, baking soda, and essential oils, are effective alternatives that don’t compromise the air we breathe. For example, microfiber cloths trap dust, dirt, and bacteria without the need for chemical-laden sprays, reducing the presence of harmful particles in the air. By avoiding toxic cleaners and opting for plant-based ingredients, we also promote healthier indoor environments, which is especially important for individuals with asthma, allergies, or sensitivities. Green cleaning reduces indoor air pollution, improving the overall quality of life for families, pets, and even those who work in commercial spaces.

Furthermore, green cleaning plays a significant role in combating climate change and preserving biodiversity. By minimizing the use of harsh, non-renewable chemical ingredients and reducing waste, green cleaning conserves natural resources and decreases the carbon footprint of cleaning operations. As we adopt sustainable cleaning practices, we help maintain the delicate balance of our ecosystems, ensuring that plants, animals, and humans thrive together. For those looking to adopt green cleaning in their own spaces, the Green Cleaning Service Directory provides a valuable resource for finding certified and reputable green cleaning services. By choosing professionals committed to sustainable cleaning practices, we collectively contribute to a cleaner, healthier Earth for generations to come.

I work for the City of Wilsonville, and our buildings get a fair amount of traffic from the public so it is absolutely crucial that we do the best job we can to make sure are buildings are clean and safe for everyone to use. Think about it, you wouldn't want to use a bathroom that hasn't been cleaned in months right?

We all have things we need to do at work, and it's our job as custodial staff to make sure that all the buildings are as clean as can be so that work goes smoothly and efficiently for everyone. It's not fair to ask the other employees to do our jobs for us, nobody wants that. We can't expect managers, secretaries, and the grounds crew, etc. to stop what they're doing we have to be the ones doing this so that the city can function properly.

Lastly, we as custodians are on the front lines of cleaning and maintaining buildings. We have to ensure that all parts of the buildings, whether its the bathrooms, breakrooms, common areas, etc. our duty is to make them not just presentable but clean so that they can be used and/or enjoyed by the public and faculty. I personally can't leave a room without asking myself if I would let my children be in there, we all must do our part and ensure these buildings we work on are safe and clean to use, and with this directory that I'll link, you can find all kinds of custodial staff and cleaning companies that fit a variety of needs

As a custodian who works for my city, I can tell you all about the importance of not only customer service, but the importance of it in our field in particular. To start with, I would like to emphasize the importance of 'service with a smile' I know it sounds cheesy, but it's really important to be approachable in all scenarios, I can't tell you how many times I've been in the middle of something (or about to head to lunch) and I get a call from someone reporting a huge mess, it's often not pretty and can be inconvenient as times, but it's important to remember that we're all working and trying to do our best and if it could potentially cause issues, simply let your supervisor know.

The other most important part of customer service in regards to janitorial work is to be attentive, listen to any and all complaints or comments your colleagues may have. Sometimes mistakes are made, things get missed, or even forgotten, it happens, we're human, and if any of those happen complaints are likely to follow. The best advice I can give, speaking from experience is to never take complaints personally, complaints are about the work not you as a person, it's important to listen, not just hear, but really listen to what people are saying to you, that way you can take in what you are being told so you can respond to the situation properly, and if you feel that the complaint is unwarranted or not accurate, just hear them out then respond appropriately and politely. In my time in this field, I can verify that there are many great and committed people that are not only great workers, but great human beings who really want to do the best they can for their employers, here is a link to the IJCSA Member Directory https://www.ijcsa.org/Find-A-Cleaning-Service-Janitorial-Service here you can find qualified people for quality cleaning and service.
