As a cleaning employee and staff member, having knowledge of Bloodborne Pathogens is significant because the day to day activities of cleaning can change and you may be faced with different challenges that you come across to clean. In certain areas of cleaning such as hospitals, doctor offices, and rehabilitation center bloodborne pathogens are more common. These pathogens may even be found in uncommon areas such as vehicles.

Because of the likelihood of being exposed to bloodborne pathogens, one must know the risks of being exposed to them. To the mere eye, you only see blood but what you see can be dangerous to you and others. Bloodborne Pathogens possess infectious diseases such as HPV, HIV, and Hepatitis B. These diseases are life changing and may develop into bigger problems further down the line for your health.

With knowledge of bloodborne pathogens, you have the chance at receiving knowledge on how to prevent exposure as well as receiving knowledge on what to do post exposure. In order to lower the risk of coming in direct contact with bloodborne pathogens, you would use Universal Precautions. Universal Precautions involve utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, googles, and aprons. In the event an employee does come in contact with a bloodborne pathogen, they should already be educated on what to do after. The main thing an employee should be made aware of is if they are exposed to one, then they should contact their supervisor immediately so the proper protocol can be put in placed and the employee may receive any vaccinations necessary at will. With this knowledge, cleaning employees and staff will know how to better protect themselves and others in the event of exposure.

There is a lot of reasons why Educating the cleaning employees and staff about Bloodborne pathogens is so important.

First without knowledge the employees or staff wouldn’t know how to protect the patient, staff or themselves. And we all know keeping workplace safe, clean , organized and free of odor is one the goals of every single employer. All these cannot be possible without knowledge.

Second once the employees or staff know how The Bloodborne pathogens are transmitted and what to do to prevent them , it reduces the danger as employees can be held accountable if they’re not following the guidelines but without the knowledge everybody will be risk.

Lastly, our cleaning employees or staff are the first defense at workplace, and they cannot assume this person looks healthy therefore I would clean his/her bodily  fluids differently from that person who seems sick meaning they need to treat all bodily fluids as if they’re contaminated by applying universal precautions. And this wouldn’t be possible without having the knowledge of Bloodborne pathogens.

We have all heard the term "Going Green" or being "Green Certified", but what does that really mean for the company and its employees?  There are many things that relate to being green.  Plastic usage, toxic chemicals for cleaning, the types of runners and rugs, even down to what types of rags we clean with.

Green programs allow for many improvements to your business which can include improved air quality with chemicals that are odorless and colorless as well as using HEPA Filter vacuums to capture more dust and debris.  Multi use rags, towels and glass bottles rather than single use ones allows for less wasted water are simple ways to effect the green quality of your company.  Lets not overlook the economic benefits when using Green products.  Many local, State and even federal credits are available when utilizing a green program.

Our staff as well as customers deserve a safe, clean and welcoming environment.  A green program helps achieve this.

Becoming green cleaning certified is something that will benefit those around me in my company because of all the benefits that come with practicing green cleaning. Harmful substances are in a lot of products used in everyday items such as out clothes and cleaning products, which is why it is the best idea to stay away from them as much as we can.

Green cleaning is the use of using green cleaning products in your cleaning services for others. They also include techniques and protocols so that one could minimize their own exposure to these harmful chemicals sometimes known as volatile organic compounds (VOC's). It is important to note that these VOC's can really do some damage not only to humans but also to the environment if they are not contained properly (as mentioned in the green cleaning program trainings).

Being green cleaning certified will also help ensure my employees stay safe when cleaning since they will also know how to use these products properly. Their health is my utmost importance, so I want to ensure that they are receive great training to minimize any risk of getting harmful health reactions to any VOC's that can cross their path.

Finally, one of the most convenient parts of green cleaning is the green packaging it comes in. The products claim to be biodegradable, meaning they will not stay in the environment for long if they somehow get out. Protecting the world and environment from harmful chemicals is something we as humans must make our priority.

The widespread use of everyday cleaning chemicals poses significant risks to both human health and the environment. Many conventional cleaning products contain a cocktail of toxic chemicals such as ammonia, bleach, and phthalates, which can have detrimental effects on respiratory health, skin irritations, and even contribute to long-term health problems like asthma and allergies. Furthermore, these chemicals can linger in the air and on surfaces, leading to indoor air pollution and potential contamination of water sources when they are washed down drains.

In stark contrast, natural green cleaning products offer a safer and healthier alternative. By harnessing the power of plant-based ingredients and avoiding harsh chemicals, green cleaning products are gentle on both the environment and human health. Ingredients such as vinegar, baking soda, and essential oils not only effectively clean surfaces but also leave behind a fresh and natural scent, without the need for synthetic fragrances that can trigger allergic reactions.

Moreover, the environmental impact of everyday cleaning chemicals cannot be overstated. Many conventional cleaners contain ingredients derived from petroleum, which contributes to air and water pollution and depletes natural resources. Additionally, the packaging of these products often involves non-recyclable materials, further exacerbating waste and environmental degradation. Green cleaning products, on the other hand, are typically packaged in recyclable or biodegradable materials and often have lower carbon footprints due to their use of renewable and plant-based ingredients.

Beyond their immediate health and environmental benefits, the use of natural green cleaning products can also lead to long-term societal gains. By reducing exposure to toxic chemicals, especially in sensitive populations such as children and the elderly, green cleaning practices can contribute to improved public health outcomes and lower healthcare costs. Furthermore, as awareness of the harmful effects of conventional cleaning chemicals grows, there is a growing demand for green cleaning products and services, creating economic opportunities for businesses and individuals in the green economy.

In conclusion, the harmful effects of using everyday cleaning chemicals underscore the urgent need for a shift towards natural green products and practices. By prioritizing human health, environmental sustainability, and economic viability, green cleaning offers a path towards a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future for all.
