All employees want to work in a safe environment. As an employer we want to take the necessary measures that all employees know the safety precautions when it comes to Bloodborne Pathogens. This includes knowing about HBV HIV and the symptoms but also that these diseases do not happen right away and can take years for symptoms to appear.

All employees can take precautions by wearing the right PPE gloves and eyewear, and dispensing of their used gloves properly. Each employee can cone in contact with Bloodborne Pathogens thru blood, vomit, mucus membranes, cuts, bites or abrasions. Also no eating, drinking and applying lip balm in an area where you can be exposed to Bloodborne Pathogens.

Every employer is responsible for providing at no cost HBV vaccine to their employees after training and within 10 days before an assignment. Employers are to have an exposure control plan reviewed annually, and are to keep on file for 3 years any exposure.

Among so many other things, it is very important that an employer provides a safe environment for his employees and those they come in contact with.

    • Everyday cleaning chemicals are proven to have a more harmful effect than natural green products. Green cleaning and products are consumer friendly and account to sustainable business practices. Indoor air quality will see a rise and while having a lower level of volatile organic compounds. The use of everyday cleaning chemicals has a harmful effect of one’s overall well-being, the environment, and finances.
    • According to the IJCSA section titled “Potential adverse health effects from exposure to common household products”, several types of cleaners can cause irritation different parts of the body. Glass cleaners can cause irritation to skin, eyes, nose and throat because it includes isopropyl alcohol. This chemical is a great disinfectant yet the long-term risks that come along with its performance is not suitable to one’s health. Side-effects like these can cause people to be out of work for extended periods of time. Also, customers can have a negative outlook on a business whose indoor atmosphere contributed to such harmful chemical reactions.
    • The “Potential adverse health effects from exposure to common household products” section in the article also informs readers that everyday cleaning chemicals can correlate with unpleasant sensations. According to the section, multipurpose cleaners often contain 2-butoxyethanol, which can cause confusion, lightheadedness, headaches and dizziness. This chemical can easily put someone out of the right state of mind, causing liability to occur.
    •  An increase in liability is not cheap, which is why these cleaning products cause a harmful effect on finances. Liability in a commercial setting can costs a company way more money than it would be saving with natural green products. Occupants of the space may have negative reactions to these cleaning materials, causing them to take sick days, or even slow down their work rate. For example, an employee can have an allergic reaction to the cleaning product that was used to clean the building the prior night. Since the employee has been sneezing all day, this can slow down their productivity and also serve as a distraction to surrounding employees. If that employee would have gone home or called in sick, then productivity levels would have been way down for that day because they are not fully staffed; either way the company will be taking a financial hit. If the company used green products, they would not have to be worried about those toxins in the atmosphere; therefore, causing everyone to remain focused and save money from using natural products.
    • There are a lot of factors that directly and indirectly correlate with the harmful effects of everyday cleaning chemicals. A lot of consumers do not even do their research behind these everyday cleaners but use them on a consistent basis. Natural green products will have a positive effect on an indoor place compared to those that contain chemicals because of the way the human body reacts. Companies and consumers will preserve on money, health, liability, and increase performance.

Traditional cleaning products have proven to be very harmful to humans, the earth and the planet overall.

Health effects: Using harmful chemical based products which contain significant amounts of very harmful chemicals have proven to cause; cancer, headaches, skin issues such as eczema, respiratory, throat and bronchial issues due to inhalation and immediate contact of the chemicals some of which releases toxic fumes in our environment.

The effects are greater when people who clean daily use such chemicals.

Quite a bit of these harmful cleaning solutions are used daily in our homes and office environment, including; kitchens and commercial environments. Products such as oven cleaners, hair chemicals in salons, chemicals used in garages, paints and furniture cleaners, all contain harsh irritants with high levels of VOC's (Volatile organic compounds) that get released into the atmosphere. - T

Environmental effects: Quite a bit of these chemicals are often times flammable, due to the contents of these cleaning agents. This is severely hazardous to our environment. Statistics have proven and as more scientists are exploiting more tests on the use of harmful cleaning chemicals on humans, there is a imperative need for us to eliminate these damaging chemicals from our planet - they are killing us, our environment and there are no medical treatments yet developed that have counteracted or reversed the diseases inflicted on us, as a result of the severe damage caused.

There are numerous positive benefits in eliminating the use of traditional cleaning products and replacing them with using 100% green, bio-degradable cleaning products versus continuing to use the harmful, traditional cleaning products.

Positive Environmental Benefits are: Creates a purer environment/ Cleaner Homes - no longer will we have to inhale harsh chemicals in the environment, or come in contact into or skin. The lingering effects of the chemicals after use in the air- is unhealthy to adults, kids, babies and pets.

Changing to green methods means no harmful chemicals will be released into the air from factories, plants. It will reduce/eliminate pollution to our waterways and minimize the impact on ozone depletion and global climate change with less smog/waste. Our air will be cleaner- better air quality.

Positive Medical/Health Benefits are: There will be less chances of the sensitive individuals developing asthma, any chronic bronchial related health issues or allergies as green products are non-toxic and are safer to use. The use of natural products will enhance the environment's sustainability, improve the well-being for humans and pets alike. Using green cleaning products will eliminate damaging the skin, eyes as green products are not corrosive.

Economic and financial benefits are: The last and an important fact in comparing the use of traditional versus green products is there is a financial benefit. Natural products are cheaper, all products can be found at home, such as; lemon, vinegar and baking soda.

The benefits of using green, eco-friendly, bio-degradable products outweigh extensively the significantly negative impact traditional cleaning products have and will continue to make on humans and our environment overall. There is not comparison to be made when our health, well-being and living and working spaces are at stake. We need air to breathe and live, so it must be clean air for us to maintain a healthy, clean life.

It is safer to check the credibility of a cleaning company when trying to decide on which cleaning company to get -ensure you find a "Certified" Green cleaning company by researching on the following website-  https://www.ijcsa.org/Green-Cleaning-Services

Bloodborne Pathogens can be found in almost any human body and exposure to them can occur in almost any industry setting.  Of course healthcare facility settings are typically more at risk than most other industries, however injuries and/or sickness to staff, delivery persons and other outside visitors to a facility at any business environment could put staff and especially janitorial staff at risk of exposure.

It is especially important that supervisory, maintenance and especially janitorial maintenance staff are well trained in the proper and safe handling and clean up procedures of potential bodily fluids that might contain bloodborne pathogens and sharps that may contain the same. It is equally important that training take into consideration language barriers and that regardless of those barriers, all involved staff have a proper understanding of the dangers, risks and procedures necessary to mitigate the exposure.

Today, business' have countless liability exposures and risks and it is imperative that business owners and mangers have a training program and plan in place to reduce the liability exposure and maintain a safe and healthy workplace environment for all employees and visitors.

Most of us can clean. Some have aquired the skill in childhood, some have learned it through knowledge and experience in the industury. But very few actually love to clean. And that is what makes for a good house keeper, or any kind of cleaner providing services. There are those who love to clean and then there are those who do it because they have to.

House keeping is something we do on a daily basis. We use dishes, we wash them, (maybe now immediately, but eventually) We use our bathrooms, we disinfect after each use. We make our beds, sweep up things off the floor and keep our garbage under control by making sure trash goes out every week.

But let's face it, who has time for a thorough house cleaning every week? It's something we all desire to have but rarely do we have the time and opportunity to fully refresh our homes on a regular routine basis, according to each of our own personalized household demands. With today's busy schedules, it's pretty common to notice at the end of week just how fast and easy that dirt and dust piled up, right before your eyes. And there is nothing more satisfying to see that dirt is gone, house smelling fresh and floors shining.

A housekeeper who understands all of this, who understands that each household has different cleaning needs, that each situation is unique and as equally important to the next, the housekeeper who actually cares about the cleanliness of your environment as if it were their own is the "KEEPER" for your household. Anyone can clean but a good housekeeper who cares is closer than you think. Find a good "Keeper" for all of your household cleaning needs in the" IJCSA house cleaning services directory"

T.J Concierge is a business that cares about the deliverance of its services. We are officially IJCSA Green Cleaning Certified and we make a noticeable difference. We offer a number of substitutes for cleaning solutions and products that are eco-friendly. We take pride in our environmental preservation tactics and hope to deliver the experience to you!

For starters, we promote the use of biodegradable products. We care about how our products breakdown when they become waste so we use biodegradable garbage bags and cellulose sponges. When cleaning and wiping surfaces, we use microfiber cloths. Though they are not biodegradable, these cloths are more efficient and eco-friendly than your traditional paper towels because they are reusable.

We also use environmentally friendly formulations. These mixtures avoid chemically reactive and toxic ingredients to preserve health and environment quality. A few examples of this are our air fresheners, glass cleaners, and furniture polisher. I have a bulk of natural candles and intents that I ordered from the amazon website. These will give my client the freedom to choose which way they would like to deodorize their air. In relation to the glass cleaner and furniture polish, I just followed the simple directions given in the study material. I have both of these prepared in separate, ready-to-use spray bottles for the next time I am green cleaning. Also, I will be using baking soda as a surface cleaner; it definitely gets the job done with the cellulose sponges and some water.

The OSHA Blood-borne Pathogen Standards review , is extremely critical in the work place. it clearly identifies area of concentration to keep focus too, along with proper cleaning and handling infectious waste. A must need for employers to provide a safety OSHA BPS training to their employees.

The training video provide clearly illustrated applicable scenarios and methods how to report and handle exposure in the work-place. The employee can refer to the company's Exposure Control Plan Manual or address their incident to their company's safety administrator. "Always Safety first."

I would highly encourage the staff to conduct a safety checklist (PPE) prior to departing to a any business, specially a medical office.
