Hello! My name is Stephanie Zambrano and I am a Co-Owner of Espino Cleaning Service based in Denver, CO. Down below I will explain  why I believe every person should only use natural green cleaning products.

As I was finishing my Green Cleaning Certification on IJCSA, I learned a lot about green cleaning and how it helps not only humans, but animals and the environment. Green cleaning is more than just a trend — it's a safer and smarter way to clean. Additionally, it makes you more of a responsible cleaner if you use natural products. By using natural and eco-friendly cleaning products, we reduce the amount of harsh chemicals that are toxic to enter our homes, schools, businesses, and the environment. Regular cleaners often contain harsh ingredients that can irritate the skin, lungs, and eyes, and long-term exposure may lead to serious health problems. These harsh chemicals have the risk of harming clients, while using green cleaning products avoid any allergy reactions, harm, and it creates a safer and fresh environment. Green cleaning products are made with products that are non-toxic, biodegradable ingredients that are safe for people, pets, and the planet, why wouldn't you want to use that instead?!

Every person plays a big role in keeping our communities safe, especially as a cleaner. If you choose to use natural green cleaning, that means you choose to protect yourself and others — especially children, the elderly, and those with allergies or asthma — from harmful fumes and chemical residues. Green cleaning also reduces indoor air pollution, making our homes and workplaces healthier places to live and work. According to the International Janitorial Cleaning Services Association (IJCSA), switching to green cleaning can drastically improve indoor air quality and reduce sick days in workplaces!

Additionally from public health, green cleaning is very essential for protecting our environment. Harmful chemicals can by chance enter water systems, pollute the air, and damage ecosystems. As a person in the cleaning industry, our purpose is to avoid that.  Using natural cleaning methods, such as vinegar, baking soda, or plant-based products, are effective products that break down safely without causing any harm. When we choose eco-friendly cleaning methods, we choose to reduce waste, support sustainability, and take direct action to fight climate change and pollution.

If you’re ready to switch to a greener way of cleaning, visit the IJCSA Green Cleaning Directory to find certified cleaning services near you that follow safe, earth-friendly practices. Every small change we do as cleaners adds up, and together we can create a cleaner, healthier future for us all!

Green Cleaning is Important to not only humans but every living creature on the earth for several reasons. Espino Cleaning Service is happy to explain the importance of Green Cleaning in the following paragraphs:

Green cleaning is a way of cleaning that uses products to clean that are safe to use and safe for not only people, but animals and the environment as well. As compared to traditional cleaning, green cleaning does its best to avoid the usage of any harmful/strong chemicals that can harm the environment by polluting the air or water. Green Cleaning helps keep our planet much healthier for every living creature. It can help from tiny insects to large animals and humans - and especially the environment we all live in and has been harmed and affected by waste and strong chemicals. Using green cleaning products means we use fewer toxins in the environment, which means cleaner air to breathe and cleaner water to drink.

One big reason green cleaning is very important is because it helps protect wildlife and plants. Harsh chemicals from regular cleaning can be risked to get into rivers and lakes, hurting fish, sharks, and other aquatic life. Green cleaning uses natural ingredients such as vinegar or regular dish soap that break down safely without harming animals or their homes. Using natural ingredients also helps reduce allergies and health problems for people, making homes and workplaces safer for everyone. You prevent an allergy reaction to a child or a pet by using green cleaning products compared to heavy harsh chemicals.

If you want to find safe and effective green cleaning services, you can visit the Green Cleaning Service Directory. This directory helps you connect with companies that care about the environment and use eco-friendly cleaning products and methods. By choosing green cleaning, we all help protect the earth and create a cleaner, healthier future for all living creatures.

How Important Are Janitors & Janitorial Staff to Our Daily Lives?

Janitors and janitorial staff play a vital role in our daily lives, yet their contributions often go unrecognized. From early mornings to late nights, these hardworking professionals are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and hygiene of the spaces we use every day—schools, offices, hospitals, retail stores, and government buildings. Without their consistent efforts, our environments would quickly become unsanitary, unsafe, and unproductive. In many ways, janitorial professionals are the unsung heroes who ensure that our daily routines run smoothly, especially in the wake of global health concerns where commercial cleaning services have become more important than ever.

The importance of janitorial services extends far beyond simple tidiness. Trained janitorial staff are equipped to handle a wide range of tasks including disinfection, waste disposal, floor care, restroom sanitation, and even emergency cleanups. Their knowledge of cleaning protocols and industry standards directly impacts public health by reducing the spread of germs, allergens, and pathogens. In high-risk environments like medical facilities and schools, professional commercial janitorial staff are essential for preventing illness and maintaining regulatory compliance. Many are also certified in specialized cleaning practices such as green cleaning, biohazard cleanup, and bloodborne pathogen safety—demonstrating the high level of skill and responsibility this work requires.

Whether you're a business owner, school administrator, or homeowner, hiring a reliable janitorial service is key to ensuring a safe and welcoming environment. Organizations like the International Janitorial Cleaning Services Association (IJCSA) make it easy to find trustworthy, certified cleaning professionals who prioritize quality and customer service. You can search for a qualified janitorial or commercial cleaning provider near you using the IJCSA Janitorial Directory. As we go about our lives, it’s important to recognize and appreciate the behind-the-scenes work of janitors and cleaning staff who keep our communities clean, healthy, and functioning every single day. Their work isn’t just important—it’s essential.

Why Cleaning Staff Should Understand Bloodborne Pathogens

If you're working in the cleaning industry, understanding bloodborne pathogens is more than just a box to check during training. These are viruses and bacteria that can be found in blood and other body fluids, and they can cause serious illnesses like hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and HIV. It doesn’t take much, a small cut, a splash in the eyes, or even handling something contaminated the wrong way can put you at risk.

Knowing how to protect yourself is key. That includes using the right personal protective equipment, knowing how to clean and disinfect properly, and disposing of hazardous materials the right way. This isn’t just for people doing trauma cleanup either. Anyone who handles trash, cleans restrooms, or deals with anything sharp or soiled could come into contact with bloodborne pathogens without even realizing it. Training helps you spot the risks and handle them safely.

When cleaning crews are trained and informed, everyone benefits. It keeps the worker safe, protects coworkers and clients, and helps your company stay in compliance with safety regulations. It also builds trust with customers who want to know that the people cleaning their spaces are doing it the right way. It’s not about being afraid of every mess, it’s about being prepared and knowing how to handle it professionally.

Introducing a structured mold-cleaning program at the YMCA enhances both member safety and facility integrity. Drawing from EPA and OSHA mold remediation guidelines for schools and commercial settings, we’ll codify CDC-approved remediation based on contamination extent—employing N95 respirators, gloves, and goggles for “small,” and escalating to HEPA-filtered half-face or full-face respirators, PPE suits, and containment setups as needed. Our maintenance team will receive targeted training in mold awareness, moisture detection, and safe cleanup, alongside regular fit-testing and refresher sessions. We’ll also document moisture sources (e.g., HVAC leaks, high humidity), remediation actions, and post-cleanup inspections—ensuring compliance, enabling audit trails, and preparing the facility to pursue third-party hygienist certification when warranted .

Besides compliance, a well-executed mold-cleaning protocol safeguards health and strengthens trust with our membership. Preventing mold not only improves indoor air quality—critical in gyms and pool areas where humidity fluctuates—but also preserves YMCA assets, reduces absenteeism, and diminishes maintenance costs over time . Transparency through photo logs, moisture readings, and remediation reports will underscore our commitment to wellness, facility excellence, and operational integrity. Ultimately, integrating professional-grade mold cleaning empowers the YMCA to maintain a healthier, more inviting environment—bolstering our reputation as a trusted community cornerstone.
