In the quest for spotless homes and pristine workplaces, the use of traditional cleaning chemicals often comes with a hidden cost - the health hazards they pose to individuals and the environment. The ubiquitous presence of harsh chemical cleaners has long been associated with adverse effects on human health, including respiratory issues, skin irritations, and potential long-term health risks. These chemical agents, commonly found in everyday cleaning products, contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs), phthalates, and other toxic substances that, when used and disposed of, contribute to indoor and outdoor air pollution. Contrarily, the embrace of natural green cleaning products stands as a compelling alternative, free from these harmful compounds, fostering a cleaner and healthier environment for all.

The widespread use of conventional cleaning chemicals introduces toxic compounds into our indoor spaces, leading to poor indoor air quality and potential health risks. Individuals may experience discomfort, allergies, or exacerbation of respiratory conditions due to exposure to these chemicals. The volatile organic compounds (VOCs) found in many commercial cleaners contribute to indoor air pollution and are linked to various health issues. Conversely, green cleaning products, often derived from plant-based ingredients and natural substances, offer a safe and healthy cleaning solution. They not only effectively clean but also significantly reduce the exposure to harmful chemicals, fostering better indoor air quality and a safer environment for occupants.

Beyond individual health risks, the impact of conventional cleaning chemicals extends to the broader ecosystem. Upon disposal, these chemicals often find their way into water systems, leading to water pollution and potential harm to aquatic life. On the other hand, green cleaning products, being biodegradable and free from harsh chemicals, pose minimal risk to the environment. Their eco-friendly nature ensures they break down harmlessly, minimizing the adverse impact on water systems and the surrounding ecosystem.

The shift to green cleaning products and methodologies is essential not only for individual health and well-being but also for the preservation of the environment. Embracing green cleaning practices is a pivotal step towards sustainability, minimizing the carbon footprint associated with traditional cleaning chemicals. Companies and individuals who adopt green cleaning practices align themselves with a larger global movement towards eco-friendly and sustainable solutions. The International Janitorial Cleaning Services Association (IJCSA) Green Cleaning Directory serves as a fundamental resource, connecting conscientious individuals and companies with certified professionals who prioritize these green cleaning practices, fostering a healthier, cleaner, and more sustainable world for all.

When operating a cleaning service, great customer service can mean a lot of things. First, show up at your client's house on time or even a few minutes early. This shows them that you are ready and willing to do the job. Second, maintain a positive experience between you and your client. Smiling, maintaining eye contact, and good communication skills are ways to create a positive experience for your clients. Lastly, listen to your clients so you can understand the services being requested.

While assisting your clients, there may be times they become upset. If a customer becomes upset, you will empathize with them and create solutions to try to fix the problem. Once you are finished providing the services requested, follow up with your clients to make sure they are completely satisfied. Always put your clients first.

Over the years, many harmful side effects that have been attributed to the use of traditional chemical cleaning products include but are not limited to headaches, eye irritation, nose and throat irritation, skin irritation, rashes and even asthma attacks, as well as other respiratory issues.

Green cleaning has proven itself to be a much healthier and cost-effective cleaning process that is accomplished using naturally derived, non-toxic, and biodegradable products which greatly reduce their impact on the environment as well as the health of those that use them.  When using green products in a private residence, as well as in commercial spaces such as office buildings and public spaces like lobbies, waiting rooms, and restrooms you can feel safer and more confident knowing that there are no harsh chemicals being inhaled, or having them on or near your skin avoiding exposure.

Other benefits of having a green cleaning program in place, is that when using proper filters in a buildings filtration systems and the appropriate types and sizes of entry carpets can reduce the amount of dirt and debris entering a building, which in turn will increase cleaning efficiency ultimately resulting in better air quality and the reduction of labor costs due to limiting the need for more labor intensive and expensive floor and carpet care procedures, as well as reducing lost labor due to the affects of dangerous chemical exposure.

Bloodborne pathogens are microorganisms in human blood that can cause a life-threatening disease and cause serious health risks to health care workers. There are different types of contact that puts an individual at risk, some of which include blood, semen, saliva, vaginal secretions. Bloodborne pathogens can be found in different settings such as healthcare facilities, laboratories, or even first aid situations. It's extremely important to be aware of universal precautions using a barrier protection at all times, using gloves for protection when working around or with blood and body fluids. We fail to realize that washing your hands is one of the simplest and effective practices to prevent Bloodborne pathogens. Immediately after your hands or any other exposed skin after an exposure to an incident. Overall, the practice of safe Bloodborne pathogens prevention is very critical for cleaning employees and staff, following proper infection control measures will prevent life-threatening diseases.

Each year, there are nearly 3 million workplace exposures to bloodborne pathogens, there are employees at risk and costing employees millions of dollars. The training of an employee is extremely significant since it will educate them on everything that is related to the spread as well as the protection against bloodborne pathogens. It's legally required to train all employees about defining Bloodborne pathogens and Other potentially infectious materials (OPIMs), how bloodborne pathogens are transmitted, how to avoid contact or exposure, most common bloodborne pathogens, reporting procedures, what should you do in the event of an exposure, most importantly how to use personal protective equipment. I have worked as a worker for 25 years before I decided to start my own cleaning business and I can't hesitate enough the importance when working at any medical facility you will be exposed to sharps in bins in restrooms, biohazard waste, or even contaminated objects. I have realized that providing comprehensive training will help improve the employee's retention.

On the other hand, staff also play a crucial role on the importance of bloodborne pathogens because it will make staff more proficient in health and safety protocols. Healthcare workers also need to be aware of the importance of bloodborne pathogens due to the fact that they are at a higher risk of being exposed due to the frequent contact with blood and body fluids. Majority of the time healthcare staff will receive training during their education and training programs, being fully aware helps them take necessary precautions in protecting themselves and their patients. Both employees and staff play a crucial role together, since they both are exposed to bloodborne pathogens, the knowledge of both teams will help ensure safety.
