When it comes to professional cleaning and janitorial services, it's crucial to prioritize the health, safety, and reputation of both clients and cleaning companies. One aspect that is sometimes overlooked but extremely important is making sure that cleaning staff are knowledgeable about bloodborne pathogens and have the proper certifications to handle any potential risks. This certification not only fulfills legal obligations but also acts as a strong defense, safeguarding the interests and reputations of all parties involved.

When clients entrust a cleaning company with the maintenance of their premises, especially in sensitive environments like medical facilities, they expect a spotless shine and a commitment to safety and professionalism. Cleaning staff who have undergone rigorous bloodborne pathogens certification training convey a message of competence and responsibility. Clients can rest assured that their facilities are being cleaned by professionals who understand the risks, recognize potential hazards, and have been equipped with the knowledge and tools to mitigate these dangers. This peace of mind is invaluable.

Moreover, a certified cleaning staff ensures the reputation of the customer and the cleaning company remains untarnished. An incident involving bloodborne pathogens can have far-reaching consequences, including legal ramifications and severe damage to a company's reputation. Certification training provides the skills and expertise needed to handle such situations appropriately, minimizing risks and safeguarding the company's good name. In turn, this reinforces client trust and loyalty, as they know their facilities are in the hands of professionals who prioritize their safety.

Ultimately, the importance of bloodborne pathogens certification extends beyond legal compliance; it's a commitment to professionalism, client protection, and the preservation of the reputation of both cleaning companies and their clients. By investing in the training and certification of cleaning staff, we uphold the highest standards of safety and service excellence, creating cleaner, healthier, and more trustworthy environments for all.

Bloodborne pathogens are microorganisms that cause disease and are present in human blood. They include human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B virus (HBV), and hepatitis C virus (HCV) among others.

Bloodborne pathogens are found in blood and other human bodily fluids. Janitors, housekeepers, and cleaners may be at risk for exposure to these bodily fluids. It is important for them to know how to keep yourself and those around you safe from exposure. Staying informed on what they are and how to avoid them is important.

In closing when we as janitors, housekeepers, and cleaners know and understand the transmission methods of bloodborne pathogens we can safely do our jobs keeping ourselves and others safe from these diseases. At the end of the day we can go home healthy and happy.

Great customer service is when you provide professional and good service. You don't need a degree for to help a customer out.  Even by putting extra tissue on a desk can be construed as good service.

We all want our customers to be happy so we should go above and beyond to help figure out our client/customers needs.  Every facility is different.

If you stay professional (you can toss in a little joke) you are likely to leave customer happy. Even if you have an angry customer a little joke can go a long way. Just remember to always stay professional at all times.

I was having some issues (at my end) with my certification and when I reached out to IJJSA they helped me out. For my communications being via email...it was a great experience and good customer service. Thank you for that experience Matthew Carson.

Knowing and treating everything as being contagious is key for anyone doing any kind of cleaning. When your going into to clean an office or any other type of facility without the proper training causes you to run the risk of contracting the infection or infections.
With proper training you learn how to deal with the different types of bloodborne pathogens and learn the particular laws and the proper compliance procedures to keep yourself safe from any form of transmission.

With proper training of you and or your employees it gives the greater awareness of the common bloodborne diseases such as hepB, hepC, HIV/AIDS, malaria, syphillis, and brucellosis.

When your training about these different pathogens you also need to cover how it’s transmitted because the training of the BPC it’s also important to explain the importance of how it’s transmitted and explain that it can be through blood or other bodily fluids such as blood, saliva, semen, vaginal secretions.

Then explain that these fluids can enter the body of a he uninfected person through these ways as mucus membranes, cuts, bites, abrasions, and also needle sticks.

There needs to be a plan in place for a manual of control plans, procedure, PPE, and the post exposure and what to do.

It is crucial for all workers in the medical field, and anyone who comes in contact with blood, know the importance of bloodborne pathogens. Bloodborne pathogens are  pathogenic microorganisms that are present in human blood and can cause disease. An example of such diseases would be hepatitis B, and HIV. Well trained and knowledgeable employees are crucial for a healthy, safe environment. Bloodborne pathogens spread when it comes into contact with someones mucus membranes, such as  their nose or mouth. It can also be spread when coming into contact with an open wound such as a needle stick, cut, or abrasion. Bloodborne pathogens can be found in blood, vomit, and possibly saliva.

There are precautions you can take to contain bloodborne pathogens while cleaning up. Blood and certain body fluids from ALL patients need to be considered potentially infectious. So, when dealing with potentially infectious items, certain precautions must be used. This includes always wearing protective gear, never eating, drinking, smoking, or even applying lip balm in an area where possible exposure can occur. Other precautions you can take to keep you, and everyone around you safe from bloodborne pathogens would be: Properly washing your hands, never manually compressing trash, avoiding splashing and spattering while cleaning up, never reusing towels or sponges, handling contaminated laundry with precaution, and ALWAYS decontaminating  surfaces and areas with Betco disinfectants.

Following company protocol and reviewing company control plan is crucial into knowing what to do when you have came into contact with bloodborne pathogens. The diseases that you could contract are serious, and potentially life threatening. If you believe you have come into contact with a bloodborne pathogen, you must contact your supervisor immediately and contact your physician. Symptoms of HBV include: fatigue, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, jaundice, vomiting, diarrhea , light colored stool, and dark urine. Symptoms of HIV include: consent fatigue, sore throat, persistent fever, persistent rash of unknown origin, night sweats, swollen glands, and mild to sever flu-like symptoms. An HBV vaccine is free to anyone who could possibly come into contact with that bloodborne pathogen, such as healthcare workers, janitors, and more. Always follow the necessary precautions to keep you and your employees safe.

Bloodborne pathogens are microorganisms present in human blood which can cause diseases. It is crucial to understand and implement safety measures to minimize and prevent exposure of these pathogens. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention established "Universal Precautions" as a protocol for those who can potentially be exposed. This approach has also been implemented by OSHA in the Bloodborne Standard.

Hepatitis b. and Human Immunodeficiency Virus are life threatening diseases that fall under the Bloodborne Pathogen category. Universal Precautions are protective practices that will help workers and others within the area minimize and prevent contamination. Job sites with reasonable likelihood of exposure must have a written "OSHA Exposure Control Plan" that is kept updated.

Some of the protective practices include: always wear personal protective equipment, never manually compress trash, never reuse towels and sponges amongst many more. One of the best take-aways from taking this training is finding out I can get a free Hepatitis vaccination after completing the course. Those working in a healthcare setting have even stricter precautions to adhere to. Disposing of sharp objects into the correct container and using color-coded bags are examples of said practices that are essential to everyone's safety. Two websites to look up further information on bloodborne pathogens and our role in preventing contamination are: www.osha.gov and betco.com.
