There are many situations where cleaning crews may encounter substances continue blood-borne pathogens. These pathogens can cause diseases in humans, and some of these diseases can be fatal. Knowing the risks and proper handling procedures are ways to reduce the spread of infectious diseases while performing cleaning duties.

The OSHA standards were initially created for the healthcare field but were expanded to include any occupation which could reasonably be exposed to infectious materials. Cleaning employees and staff could easily be exposed working in an area where someone had thrown up or could come in contact with bodily fluids, doing laundry, or simply dealing with trash.

Following universal precautions can lessen the risk for the spread of potentially harmful or even fatal diseases. A simple break from a syringe or other infected material or entry via an open wound makes individuals susceptible. Cleaning staff is not only responsible for themselves but also limiting the exposure and spreading of disease to anyone else who would be using the facilities which need to be cleaned properly.

Before you can be aware of a disease like Blood borne pathogens we have to know what cause's it. Blood borne pathogens is caused when you come in contact with things like someone's body fluid, blood, or vomit. What cause's the sickness or death are the pathogenic microorganism's found in blood.

Ways for the pathogenic microorganism's to infect your body is through your mouth, nose, through cuts, or a human bite. This is because saliva can also infect your body with Blood borne pathogens. As suggested in the video follow the standards if you come in contact with anything that might be contaminated.

Being aware about Blood borne pathogens is important because not being aware of things like this can affect lives negatively. We can benefit from knowing about Blood borne pathogens by studying ways to cure it and other disease's like it. This can help not only save lives but earn more money for research to cure other disease's.        As I've learned by reading this article. The normal hustle and bustle of everyday life can take its toll on your carpet. To keep yours looking its best between professional cleanings, vacuum heavy traffic areas two to three times a week, and the rest of your carpet once a week.
Using indoor and outdoor mats at each entrance can reduce the amount of dirt tracked into your home. Be sure to clean these periodically to ensure their utmost effectiveness.

Carpet cleaning is a way to live a heathier life. Nobody wants dust mites, bacteria and other allergens inside their homes. To assure better breathing and reduce colds and health problems. It's great to have some type of carpet cleaning.

It's different types of bacteria that will enter your home from the bottom of your shoes. Dirt will soil onto your carpet cause you to weaken fibers if not properly cleaned. Properly cleaning will help carpet last longer. It's also promotes a healthy Enviromint

Exposure to potentially hazardous blood is a very real concern for anyone working in a youth-focused or community-based organization. When a child gets a bloody nose or someone stubs their toe on the diving board you might be asked to clean it up. After all, we don’t want the general public to be exposed to Bloodborne pathogens.

It is important to remember two things whenever you’re asked to clean up blood:

Always assume the blood is infected with a dangerous disease like HIV, Hepatitis B or C.Have the right cleanup equipment and use it properly.

Having worked in the medical field for 27 years, Bloodborne pathogens are no stranger to my everyday routine. When I first started out, Universal precautions were more of a 'recommendation' and mainly consisted of just a pair of gloves. Fast forward to 2022, where the minimal universal precautions now include gloves, gowns and eye protection.

Cleaning staff face very unique challenges with bloodborne pathogens. Any training received is usually brief and basic. It's not only needlesticks that are concerning, but any body fluids may contain trace amounts of blood and pathogens. Often times, these are not noticeable and pose the same risk of exposure as a needlestick or an obvious contamination. In the healthcare field, while there is a high exposure risk, most workers are isolated to a limited number of patients which can help reduce risk. While cleaning staff are not directly in contact with patients, they come into contact with a greater number of exposure hazards. Many times, these exposures are unable to be traced back to a particular person which leaves the worker with an extended period of treatment and surveillance.

It is the responsibility of companies and supervisors to keep their employees safe and healthy. This includes; proper education, having the proper equipment, proactive training and having a detailed exposure plan. Frequent training is inexpensive and can minimize the risk of exposure. Even something as simple as proper donning and doffing of gloves is have a large impact on risk reduction.  Employers need to also address decontamination after working in areas where there is a significant potential for pathogens to exist. Workers can become a vector for transmission simply by brining pathogens into their homes or other places.

Addressing bloodborne pathogens and disease transmission thoroughly is best practice. It's a minimal expense and can protect both the workers and the agency.
