          Universal precautions are for everybody who deals with any kind of human body secretions. Universal precautions recommend that blood and certain body fluids from all patients be considered potentially infectious and that infection control precautions be taken to minimize risk of exposure.(Bloodborne Pathogens Standard 29 CFR 1910.1030(b) definitions).

            There are two main reasons why we use universal precautions;

            The first being is to protect all workers by teaching them about hand washing, probably the most important reason to wash your hands it stop the spread of exposure. When working in a janitorial environment it is useful if you use gloves and wash your hands after leaving every room changing gloves frequently and sanitizing in between and  after each task. This helps stop the spread to patients and others in your cleaning environment

             The second reason is to protect ourselves. when we wear protective gear to do our jobs we are protecting ourselves from potential exposure to blood borne pathogens. When we use universal precautions it makes the employee safe and the environment around them safe, it also lessen the probability of exposing your family to the pathogens.

               There are specific recommendations for Universal precautions,

              For example:  Nurses may only be required to wear mask and gloves during normal routine patient care, as a universal precaution the nurse then may donn a gown, boot covers, and outside gown, may use two pair of gloves.  Janitorial workers must follow universal precautions for their safety and the safety of others as well;

              Universal precautions for custodians are a little different,

              Wearing rubber gloves,  do not pick up any needles or syringes with your hands always use some type of tongs or a broom and dustpan,do not use your hands to scoop trash out of one bag into another,(such as to make room in the bag), Use disinfectant or bleach (ratio:1 to 10)  when cleaning blood,always wash your hands after removing your gloves,

    In our ever changing environment the concept of a green society makes more sense now than ever. Being proactive exploring ways to implement a Green Cleaning Program to the mainstream, while some may not see the benefits they may experience the consequences. Potentially hazardous chemicals used in everyday homes have become far more dangerous when used improperly. Studies show the basic primary benefits of a green program, begin with selecting products that do not contain environmental contaminants which reduces the ecological footprints. Those chemicals have in a lot of cases end up in our drains which will ultimately enter our public water system. Cleaning practices that take the environment into account, has shown to improve air quality, productivity reducing sick days at the workplace and quality of life in homes.

    According to one recent workplace microbial survey, "desktop surfaces, computer keyboards, mouse and telephone receivers are more contaminated than restroom toilet seats."

    Did you know that the average office toilet seat has approximately 49 germs per square inch? Desktops have almost 21,000 germs per square inch, and phones had more than 25,000 germs per square inch. Desks, phones, computer keyboards and your mouse are germ transfer points because people touch them so often.

    Coughs and sneezes can leave a myriad of viruses that can be lost on these items for up to three days.

    Enclosed environments, where people are interacting closely with one another, are at a higher risk of the spread of germs. With people often going to work sick, this can quickly lead to outbreaks in workplace settings.

     Retro Clean, LLC realizes that our hands are responsible for the spread of 80% of common diseases with proper hand hygiene being recognized as the most cost effective means of infection control in the workplace.

     "Health promotion or wellness programs have been shown to be effective at reducing absenteeism, health costs, workers compensation claims and turnover but often, forget to address infectious diseases.  Workplace infection control programs focusing on hand hygiene have been found effective at reducing absenteeism on average by around 40 %. An important component of prevention is hand hygiene training and supplies including soap, sanitizer, paper towels and tissues," comments Barry Michaels, an infectious disease expert.

    And with all said isnt it just as important to transfer these same practices to our homes?

    Experienced cleaning companies can help you fight these germs and help your employees be happy and healthy.

    We are in a service business/industry. Providing good customer service for your clients can be the deciding factor of their return rate and for potential clients, it can be why they chose your service. Customer service encompasses any interaction, online or off, that a customer or potential customer may have with your company — and it includes the entire experience, from initial contact to final sale and beyond.

    Good customer service is different from company to company, but the key characteristics of good customer service include: a rapid response time to service requests, responding to all customer feedback (positive or negative), self-service help documents, and a friction less process for getting in touch with support.
