As a commercial cleaning company cleaning facilities like hospitals, and doctors offices, it is extremely important to know the importance of blood borne pathogens and how to make sure you do not get exposed to them. Cleaning employees should be taking this course seriously, because we are the ones who are cleaning up the mess that is left behind.

When cleaning these types of facilities or homes that have bodily fluids, it is important to understand that you take your PPE seriously so that you are not exposed. The way you dispose of all the contaminated pieces is crucial so that it gets disposed of properly. They must be going into a specific bag for hazardous waste and making sure you are not pushing down on the bag so the air of the pathogens gets in your face.

The other important factor is how you clean the mess. Making sure your employees are not slapping around a cleaning cloth/rag and splashing it, and sanitizing after you have cleaned it. This is also going for your mop buckets, any cleaning tools you may have in your janitorial closet. All employees must be sanitizing and disinfecting all of the tools they have used to clean the mess so that you are not spreading and also cross contaminating.

It is not only in the medical environment that employees should worry about Bloodborne pathogens. House cleaners or any residential cleaners should also be aware of the possibility of coming into contact with human blood or any other bodily fluid. It is highly important the employees in this field take the same amount of precaution as any medical employee, for the safety of themselves and others.

Bloodborne Pathogens can be transmitted through eyes, nose or cuts in the skin. For that reason, one should always wear protective gear such as gloves, goggles, and masks to prevent diseases such as Hepatitis B or HIV. Additionally, chemicals that are designed to disinfect the contaminated areas should be available for any residential cleaner.

Not only should cleaners worry about their safety, but also the safety of others. One should remember they are not just there to clean, but to make an impact to the householder, making them feel at peace that their home is properly maintained and that any person that enters into their house is safe. An accident can happen anywhere, so it is important to always be prepared to clean any bodily fluid that may appear.

The Importance of Cleaning Employees & Staff Knowing About Bloodborne Pathogens

Cleaning employees and staff play a critical role in maintaining a safe and healthy environment, particularly in facilities where the potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens (BBPs) exists. Bloodborne pathogens are infectious microorganisms in human blood that can cause diseases such as HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C. These pathogens can be transmitted through contact with infected blood, which is why it is crucial for cleaning personnel to be educated on the proper precautions and procedures. Knowledge of BBPs helps cleaning employees protect themselves, their colleagues, and the people they serve from potentially life-threatening infections.

For cleaning employees, understanding the risks associated with bloodborne pathogens is essential for their safety. Without proper training, workers may unknowingly put themselves at risk while handling contaminated materials, such as used bandages, syringes, or cleaning surfaces that may have been exposed to blood. Exposure could occur through accidental needlesticks, cuts, or even splashes, making it imperative for staff to know how to handle these situations safely. Proper knowledge and training can reduce the likelihood of exposure and help workers recognize the importance of wearing protective gear, such as gloves, masks, and face shields, when cleaning areas that might be contaminated with blood.

Beyond personal safety, understanding bloodborne pathogens also enhances the ability of cleaning staff to maintain a safe environment for the broader community. Facilities such as hospitals, clinics, schools, and workplaces where there is a higher likelihood of blood exposure require staff to be knowledgeable in cleaning and disinfection protocols specific to BBPs. This helps to ensure that shared spaces are properly sanitized, reducing the risk of cross-contamination and maintaining the health and safety of employees, patients, and visitors. Additionally, training on BBPs fosters a culture of responsibility and awareness, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and the role that cleaning personnel play in preventing the spread of infectious diseases. In sum, when cleaning staff are well-trained in handling bloodborne pathogens, they contribute significantly to overall public health and workplace safety.

Why Every Person Should Only Perform Natural Green Cleaning

In today’s world, where environmental concerns and health issues are becoming increasingly prevalent, the choice to adopt natural green cleaning practices is more important than ever. Traditional cleaning products often contain harsh chemicals like ammonia, bleach, and phosphates, which can have adverse effects on human health and the environment. These chemicals contribute to indoor air pollution, respiratory problems, skin irritation, and even long-term conditions like cancer. By switching to eco-friendly cleaning solutions, such as baking soda, vinegar, and essential oils, we can avoid these harmful toxins while still achieving a spotless, sanitized home or office.

Using natural green cleaning products offers direct health benefits for individuals and families. Many conventional cleaning products are linked to allergies, asthma, and other respiratory issues, particularly in children and pets who are more sensitive to chemicals. For people with asthma or chemical sensitivities, green cleaning practices reduce exposure to these triggers, improving the overall quality of life. In addition, natural ingredients like citric acid and sodium bicarbonate are not only safer for human health but are also effective at breaking down grease, removing stains, and disinfecting surfaces without the need for synthetic chemicals.

Furthermore, by opting for green cleaning, we help protect the planet. Traditional cleaning products are often not biodegradable and can contaminate the water supply when washed down drains. These chemicals can have devastating effects on aquatic life, polluting our rivers, lakes, and oceans. Green cleaning, on the other hand, uses products that are biodegradable, meaning they break down naturally and have minimal environmental impact. By embracing sustainable practices like microfiber cleaning cloths, which reduce the need for disposable wipes, and using cleaning agents that are plant-based or derived from non-toxic minerals, we contribute to the long-term health of our ecosystems.

Finally, as the demand for green cleaning continues to rise, it is essential for consumers to choose professional cleaning services that are IJCSA Green Cleaning Certified. This certification ensures that cleaning providers adhere to the highest standards of environmental responsibility, using safe and effective cleaning methods that protect both people and the planet. By hiring companies listed in the IJCSA Green Cleaning Directory, you can rest assured that your cleaning needs are being met with products and techniques that are safe for your home, business, and the environment. By supporting businesses that offer green cleaning services, we collectively take a step toward a healthier, safer, and more sustainable future for everyone.

Medical cleaning practices are very strict in the sense that there are rules to follow when it comes to the cleaning. Since medical facilities need to be properly clean to avoid patient getting sick medical cleaning practices can benefit residential and commercial places. The majority of people won’t be familiar with some of the rules and proper methods went dealing with cleaning chemical.

Some of those standards can help other residential and commercial situations in the sense that if they can implement a higher standard of cleaning there would be less people getting sick. There would be a lower number of people calling in sick to work and to school. Medical cleaning practices implementation at home can also help you avoid going to the doctor because of bacteria’s or virus that could have been avoidable if we were to do a deeper cleaning with the right cleaning chemicals.

A good idea to implement is to have a higher standardized level of cleaning for all types of situations, for homes and work places. By implementing medical cleaning practices across the board we can have a better control when it comes to people getting sick. According to the CDC, cleaning alone effectively reduces the number of microorganisms on contaminated equipment. Now imagine having the knowledge to use the correct chemicals it can really impact us in a good way.

Now, that we are in a pandemic cleaning is crucial and knowing and implementing the high standards of medical cleaning can keep a better control of the spread. For example, knowing that we should clean with color rags that way we are not cross contaminating areas and knowing about how to correctly use chemical that can kill harmful virus and germs. Healthcare facilities required special steps and procedures to clean and disinfect due to the high risk of contamination from harmful pathogens such as germs, bacteria, and viruses. How can we implement the same procedures to other areas of janitorial services? And how can we be the fore front against the spreading of diseases from these microorganisms?

Medical cleaning training procedures are effective in high risk areas where germs and viruses are present. The use of PPE and appropriate cleaning and disinfecting techniques are very important to avoid direct or indirect contact with pathogens. The same procedures could be utilize for residential and commercial cleaning to achieve better results for your own company and customers.

Cleaning methods use in health care facilities can be apply in residential cleaning. For instance, high touch areas should be disinfected in the same manner medical institutions do, as well as bathrooms and kitchen. When it comes to commercial cleaning, the same procedures for health care facilities should be use. In commercial settings high traffic areas like floors and carpets should be disinfected in a daily basis. Items like phones, computers key boards, hand rails and door knobs are a breeding ground for viruses.

Protecting our environment wheatear is home or business from harmful pathogens is essential for a good standard of living. Cleaning and disinfecting is a good habit and should always be exercised in a daily basis. As of right now, with the recent covid-19 pandemic we are aware of how important disinfecting is and how keeping a good habit of cleanliness have a positive impact in our lives.
