Proper cleaning in healthcare facilities is of paramount importance for maintaining a safe and healthy environment. The primary concern is infection control, as healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) can pose serious risks to patients. Thorough cleaning of surfaces, medical equipment, and patient care areas is essential to eliminate or minimize the presence of bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms that contribute to the spread of infections. This is especially crucial for vulnerable individuals with compromised immune systems, such as those undergoing surgeries or treatments, as a clean environment significantly reduces the risk of acquiring infections.

Patient safety is a key motivation for maintaining cleanliness in healthcare facilities. A clean environment contributes to patient well-being by minimizing the chances of cross-contamination and the spread of infectious diseases. This is crucial not only for the immediate health of patients but also for preventing the potential complications that may arise from healthcare-associated infections. In the context of regulatory compliance, healthcare facilities are required to adhere to strict standards and guidelines to ensure patient safety and quality of care. Regular and proper cleaning practices are fundamental to meeting these standards and maintaining the facility's accreditation.

The health of healthcare personnel is another critical aspect. Proper cleaning not only protects patients but also safeguards the well-being of healthcare workers who are exposed to various pathogens. Creating a safe and clean working environment for healthcare staff is essential in preventing occupational infections and ensuring the continued functioning of the healthcare system. Additionally, public perception and trust are closely linked to the cleanliness of healthcare facilities. A clean and well-maintained environment not only instills confidence in patients and visitors but also contributes to the overall professionalism and quality of care associated with the facility.

Preventing outbreaks of contagious diseases is a significant consideration, particularly during pandemics or when dealing with highly infectious agents. Proper cleaning measures play a crucial role in containing the spread of infections within healthcare settings. Timely and thorough cleaning not only protects patients and healthcare workers but also contributes to the broader community's health by preventing the dissemination of diseases. Finally, beyond the immediate health benefits, regular cleaning contributes to the extended life and proper functioning of medical equipment. This is not only cost-effective but also ensures that healthcare facilities can provide optimal care through the sustained functionality of essential equipment. In conclusion, proper cleaning in healthcare facilities is a multifaceted necessity, encompassing infection control, patient safety, regulatory compliance, employee health, public trust, outbreak prevention, and the longevity of medical equipment.

A good cleaning staff is essential for all medical facilities. Their cleaning protects both the medical providers and patients. They break the chain of infection by preventing it from spreading.

All type of germs enter medical facilities each day whether it be from patients or staff members. A well-trained cleaning staff ensures those germs don't spread by disinfecting all surfaces adequately. Cleaning employees are just as important as any other staff member in medical facilities.

Knowing how to clean in general isn't enough. Each cleaner having the right knowledge concerning blood-borne pathogens will assist them in protecting themselves and others. HVB and HIV are both lethal diseases. People tend to take the correct precautions and measures when they understand the risk involved. IJCSA is a great platform to train and educate both you and your staff in the various realms of cleaning.

It is important to properly clean Healthcare facilities because it will stop the spread of bloodborne pathogens and other potentially hazardous bacteria and spore from being released into the air.

This can be done by first making sure you and all your cleaning employees are practicing and knowledgeable on the proper way to apply any/all PPE that may be needed and all items including PPE equipment and cleaning solutions are available and labeled accordingly.

When the appropriate PPE is applied and disposed of in the correct manor can open the door for bacteria and disease to spread. When the appropriate cleaning solutions aren't used or the cleaning tools aren't disinfected this too can open the door for bacteria and disease to grow and spread not just within the facility but outside the facility as well

Bloodborne pathogen training has its place in everyone's life. Back 20+ years ago we did bloodborne pathogen training in college as a resident advisor. Unsurprisingly, this training was used often in the college environment. It was important to not only keep the students' health and safety in mind, but it became life long knowledge of how to handle those type of scenarios.

As a business owner, this same knowledge is used for handling employee injuries. Everyone's safety is key to success. We have found continuous education for our employees, even those not on the janitorial team, beneficial. You never know when you'll be in a situation where knowledge of how to properly handle bloodborne pathogens will be needed. Even our landscaping teams have been in situations of finding used needles. Every one of our company vehicles has a disposal box on board and is regularly disinfected and monitored.

Our cleaning team is diligent about following protocol. We have daily logs of the job site progress, current concerns, advancements, and recommendations. It is everyone's responsibility to ensure safety for themselves and those around them.

The movement towards environmental safety and friendly practices only continues to grow. The importance of using natural ingredients in your cleaning routines goes far above just being safe for the environment. There are a multitude of reasons you should add a green cleaning program into your business. Being environmentally friendly isn't just a trend anymore. It is our duty to make eco-conscious choices that impact the environment as little as possible.

Firstly, the use of environmentally friendly products and practices significantly reduces exposure to harsh chemicals. The exposure to toxic chemicals can cause health issues. Some of those  health issues include respiratory problems and skin irritations. Completely stopping using these toxic chemicals in your home, can make your environment healthier and you don't have to worry about harmful side affects .

Secondly, adding a green cleaning program into your business shows that you are committed to growing social awareness and concern for the environment. The use of harsh chemicals in traditional cleaning products can be extremely harmful to the environment. If not disposed of properly, these chemicals can find their way into water systems and completely pollute them. This can be dangerous to all the wildlife and organisms in that location. Switching to green products means less impact to the environment and their ecosystems.

Thirdly, adding a green cleaning program into your business equals cost efficiency. While it might seem at first that green cleaning equipment is expensive, it usually requires less patience over time. These products are durable and are meant to be used over and over. Another point is that eco-friendly solutions tend to come concentrated. That means that you can dilute these products and get more use out of it than traditional products.

Moreover, green cleaning has plentiful benefits to your company. To find resources on green cleaning, you should visit the IJCSA Green Cleaning Directory. This allows you to have plentiful options when searching for your specific green cleaning needs. IJCSA members take high priority in their education and are highly trained. Therefore, you should add a green cleaning program into your business. It is safer, better for the environment, and more cost efficient than traditional cleaning.

There are two main reasons why cleaning employees and staff must know about bloodborne pathogens. First is their and other people's safety and wellbeing. Second, there are certain OSHA requirements that must be met known as the "Bloodborne Pathogen Standard" which will be discussed shortly.

First, let's talk about the safety and well being of employees and staff. The main reason why it is important for employees and staff to know about bloodborne pathogens is so that they can prevent themselves and others from coming into direct contact with contamination and suffer illness or even death. If an employee has no idea that cleaning a puddle of blood can be detrimental to their own health and don't use the proper protective equipment, they are causing harm not only to themselves but can also spread that harm to others.

The second reason it is important for employees and staff to learn about bloodborne pathogens is because it is an OSHA requirement. Not following the proper procedures or not having procedures in place could result in thousands of dollars in fines. The Bloodborne Pathogen Standard developed by OSHA is a set of steps required for employers to have in order to prevent and/or react properly to bloodborne pathogen contamination. To learn more about the Bloodborne Pathogen Standard, visit www.osha.gov.
