Janitors and their responsibilities are more important than most people realize. I have been a member of this organization and had this certification for quite some time, and I have learned a lot during the process. I have learned an immense amount about cleaning items and about residential and commercial jobs. There is a lot more to keeping a space clean that what meets the eye. It is a much more difficult task than many realize. I have found that from a physical, monetary, and organizational perspective, many interesting facts about this business.

We clean homes, apartments, new homes. We deep clean and complete construction cleans for new homes as well. I have found that deep cleaning to the extent that is required is extremely time consuming and physically taxing on your body. When I worked my "desk job" only, I would leave work emotionally and mentally spent; however, there is a different kind of "tired" that comes with ensuring these homes are cleaned to be best of our ability.

I have had the cleaning business for about 3-5 years. Business was very slow in the beginning, even though my company was the only company to provide this service. I stuck with it, I kept renewing and ensuring I passed the test you all offer, and it has finally started becoming lucrative. We have a bunch of new vendors that have begun to recently utilize our services.

From an organizational perspective I questioned myself if I should continue to complete the training and continue making payments for the license. It can be extremely discouraging; however, the training and knowledge obtained through the training offered through your program, I have found this could be a smart business venture, that was completely unplanned.

Thank you for enhancing my knowledge in this subject matter.

Implementing medical cleaning practices into residential and commercial cleaning situations is a great way to protect people from harmful bacteria, germs, and viruses. Medical cleaning is a method used in healthcare settings to keep hospitals and clinics clean and safe. It focuses on disinfecting surfaces, removing germs, and preventing the spread of infection. These same cleaning practices can be applied to homes, offices, and other public spaces to create healthier environments. By using the right cleaning products and techniques, it’s possible to reduce the spread of illness in everyday places.

One important aspect of medical cleaning is using strong disinfectants that kill harmful germs and viruses. These disinfectants are designed to work on various surfaces and help stop the spread of diseases like the flu or cold. In homes and businesses, it’s essential to clean high-touch areas like doorknobs, light switches, and countertops regularly. Doing this will help keep people safe from germs that can spread quickly. Using medical-grade products ensures that harmful bacteria are removed, making spaces cleaner and safer for everyone.

Another way to apply medical cleaning practices is by using special tools like microfiber cloths and vacuums with HEPA filters. Microfiber cloths are good at picking up germs and dust without spreading them around, while HEPA vacuums filter out tiny particles in the air. These tools can be used in any cleaning situation, whether it’s a home, office, or gym, to improve air quality and make spaces cleaner. By adopting these techniques, it’s possible to create a healthier environment that protects everyone from potential health risks.

For businesses and homeowners who want to ensure their spaces are properly cleaned, hiring a professional janitorial service is a great option. Cleaning services that specialize in medical cleaning have the right knowledge and equipment to keep places safe from harmful germs. The Janitorial Service Directory lists qualified cleaning services that can help maintain a high standard of cleanliness. By using professional cleaning services, it’s easier to prevent the spread of infections and create safer environments for all.

As an IJCSA master green cleaner I understand the importance of preserving our environment and protecting the people, animals and nature it provides. Our oceans are filling with plastic waste and our air quality indoor and outdoor is being effected everyday by the use and manufacturing of toxic chemicals.

I have the skills and knowledge to clean safely while using natural chemicals that have less of an environmental impact. While even using methods to disinfect and clean without the use of chemical. My goal is to keep myself and others safe while taking a more strategic and long term approach to cleaning.

Taking steps to protect the future of our planet and the safety of those who use our facilities is very important to me. This course has helped me better understand how to clean green and how I can implement green cleaning procedures for our organization. I will use the knowledge I have gained here in my professional and personal life, sharing what I have learned in hopes to change the "standard" to green cleaning!

Being a green cleaning company is better then being a company that uses harmful chemicals for many reasons. Choosing green cleaning methods can help make the difference needed to preserve our environment, be healthier, and conserve natural resources.

Traditional cleaning chemical are hazardous to the environment and risk negative health effects to people and animals. Acute issues due to exposure from toxic chemicals include headache, respiratory issues, and even death. While some chronic illnesses can also happen after long term exposure like some cancers, asthma and COPD.

Accidents happen, but when using green cleaning methods those accidents are likely to have less server consequences. Green cleaning chemicals tend to be safer then traditional chemicals. Some traditional toxic household cleaners such as bleach is very reactive with other chemicals. Windex contains ammonia when combined with bleach creates chorine gas which can be fatal.

Being a green clean company will set you apart from the competition. Many people are now understanding the risk affiliated with exposure to toxic chemicals. While environmental changes are becoming more apparent then ever. People are wanting to do there part in protecting and preserving our planet.

Green cleaning is crucial for environmental stability. Green cleaning and green methods are our future. I believe green cleaning will be seen as the standard in the next few years to a decade and being green cleaning certified with the IJCSA as an individual or company is being proactive and prepared.

Green Cleaning Product Review: Ecover All-Purpose Cleaner

As someone who values environmentally-friendly cleaning, I recently tried Ecover All-Purpose Cleaner. This product is made with plant-based and mineral ingredients, which is a huge win for me since I’m always on the lookout for non-toxic and biodegradable alternatives to traditional chemical cleaners. The scent is light and refreshing, thanks to the essential oils used in its formulation, and I love that it doesn't have the overpowering, harsh chemical smell that many other cleaners leave behind.

In terms of cleaning power, I was really impressed! It tackled kitchen grease, bathroom soap scum, and everyday surface dirt with ease. I used it on my countertops, stovetop, and even bathroom tiles, and it left everything sparkling clean without any residue. The cleaner was effective even on sticky spots, making it great for multi-surface use. Plus, I felt good knowing that it was safe to use around my pets and family because it contains no harmful chemicals or artificial fragrances.

Overall, I highly recommend Ecover All-Purpose Cleaner for anyone looking to switch to green cleaning products that deliver results without compromising on safety or effectiveness. It's a great choice for anyone trying to reduce their environmental impact while still achieving a clean and fresh home!

How to Implement Medical Cleaning Practices into Residential & Commercial Cleaning

    1. Use Hospital-Grade Disinfectants

    • Incorporate EPA-registered disinfectants that kill 99.9% of bacteria and viruses, including COVID-19, influenza, and MRSA.
    • Follow dwell times
    • Use non-toxic, eco-friendly options where possible, especially in homes and offices.
    2. Adopt a Color-Coded Cleaning System
    • Prevent cross-contamination by using different colored microfiber cloths and mop heads for:
    • Restrooms (Red)
    • Kitchens (Blue)
    • General Areas (Green)
    • High-Touch Surfaces (Yellow)
    • This method, used in hospitals, ensures that bacteria from one area does not spread to another.
    3. Focus on High-Touch Points
    • Identify and clean high-contact surfaces more frequently, such as:
    • Light switches, doorknobs, and elevator buttons.
    • Desks, keyboards, phones, and office equipment.
    • Remote controls, appliance handles, and countertops in homes.
    4. Use HEPA-Filtered Vacuums
    • HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filters trap 99.97% of allergens, bacteria, and dust particles, improving indoor air quality.
    • Essential for homes with asthma sufferers, offices, and schools where air cleanliness is crucial.
    5. Implement Proper PPE & Hand Hygiene
    • In commercial and high-risk environments, staff should wear:
    • Gloves (changed between tasks).
    • Face masks when dealing with contaminated areas.
    • Protective aprons in high-risk settings.
    • Promote handwashing and sanitizer use among employees and clients.
    6. Train Staff on Proper Cleaning Protocols
    • Just like in medical facilities, cleaning staff should be trained on:
    • Correct disinfectant use and application techniques.
    • Proper waste disposal, including biohazards when applicable.
    • Identifying cross-contamination risks and how to prevent them.
    7. Maintain a Cleaning Checklist & Documentation
    • Create customized cleaning checklists for homes, offices, and businesses based on medical cleaning protocols.
    • Log completed cleaning tasks to ensure consistency and accountability.
    8. Improve Ventilation & Air Purification
    • Medical facilities prioritize clean air circulation—homes and businesses can, too.
    • Use air purifiers with UV-C light technology to kill airborne pathogens.
    • Encourage proper ventilation by opening windows or using HVAC filters.
    Conclusion

Medical cleaning standards are designed to eliminate harmful pathogens, prevent cross-contamination, and ensure a sanitary environment. These same principles can be applied to residential and commercial cleaning to improve safety, hygiene, and air quality.

By applying medical cleaning principles, residential and commercial spaces can achieve a higher level of cleanliness, safety, and hygiene. These practices help reduce illness, improve air quality, and create healthier environments for families, employees, and customers.

Properly cleaning healthcare facilities is crucial for maintaining a safe, sanitary, and healthy environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Here are the key reasons why thorough cleaning is essential:

    1. Infection Control & Prevention

    • Proper disinfection reduces the spread of HAIs (Healthcare-Associated Infections) such as MRSA, C. difficile, and COVID-19.

    2. Patient Safety & Well-being

    • A clean environment helps protect vulnerable patients with weakened immune systems.
    • Reduces the risk of cross-contamination from surfaces, equipment, and staff interactions.

    3. Compliance with Health Regulations

    • Healthcare facilities must follow strict OSHA, CDC, and EPA guidelines.
    • Proper cleaning ensures compliance with infection control protocols to avoid penalties and legal issues.

    4. Staff Health & Productivity

    • A sanitary workspace protects doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers from illness.
    • Reducing workplace infections leads to fewer sick days and improved efficiency.

    5. Enhances Reputation & Patient Confidence

    • A visibly clean and well-maintained facility improves patient trust and satisfaction.
    • Prevents negative reviews and maintains the facility’s professional image.

    6. Proper Waste & Biohazard Disposal

    • Correct handling of medical waste, sharps, and hazardous materials prevents contamination and environmental hazards.
    • Reduces risks of bloodborne pathogens exposure.

    7. Air Quality Improvement

    • Proper cleaning and HVAC maintenance reduce airborne pollutants, dust, and allergens.
    • Helps prevent respiratory issues and promotes overall wellness.
