Importance of cleaning employees and staff knowing about Bloodborne pathogens.

16 Feb 2022 10:50 AM | Efe Olasakin

It is imperative that employees and staff of cleaning companies have deep knowledge of  bloodborne pathogens. According to OSHA Bloodborne pathogens are infectious microorganisms present in blood that can cause disease in humans, like hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the virus that causes AIDS.

Anyone who is exposed to bloodborne pathogens is at risk for serious or life-threatening illnesses and even death. Workers can protect themselves from harm from bloodborne pathogens if they are provided information on how to effectively use PPE and handle blood and bodily fluid.

It is important for employers to have exposure plan that provide staff information about the step-by-step plan of how to manage any exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
