Bloodborne pathogens

I've just started in the janitorial field and I do not know anything about bloodborne pathogens really. I think as a new employee it's very important that we get the straining so we can become familiar and understand and recognize how infectious diseases work and how at risk we truly are. I would smash down the garbage and not even think twice about what was in there. I will never do that again thanks to this course.

I am taking this course all on my own without my employers making me do it but I will be a strong advocate from here on out believing that our department should take these courses. We can learn a lot about bloodborne pathogens and how they can easily get into our body when we are handling everyday material. I don't believe it's something that we think about unless you have taken this class.

I believe I have learned a lot about keeping myself safe and my co-workers safer. I will be using PPE a lot more and be a lot more cautious with how I handle the trashes and bodily fluids from here on out.
