The importance of cleaning employees & staff knowing about bloodborne pathogens

19 Oct 2025 1:26 PM | Carson Stone

The importance of team members knowing about bloodborne pathogens is crucial for several reasons. These can be potentially life threatening diseases and the team is at risk of exposure anytime they are working in these environment. That is why we want to follow health and safety protection by providing PPE like gloves, masks, gowns, etc. Training workers about the risks of Bloodborne pathogens. Ensuring proper disposal of contaminated materials and having an Exposure Control Plan set in place.

Bloodborne pathogens such as HIV, Hepatitis B (HBV), and Hepatitis C (HCV) can be transmitted through blood and bodily fluids, posing serious health risks if proper precautions are not taken. When staff are trained on the risks, proper handling, and protective measures, they are better equipped to minimize exposure and avoid potentially life-threatening infections. This knowledge also ensures they understand how to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) correctly, how to respond to potential exposures, and how to safely dispose of contaminated materials.

We need to follow OSHA's guidelines for BBPs as this is a way to keep our team safe while they are out servicing locations. If staff have not been trained on these items, then this is a safety violation and puts team members at risk. Through following the regulations, we will be able to promote a safe working environment for all our team members.
