The importance of cleaning employees & staff knowing about bloodborne pathogens

06 Nov 2025 10:50 PM | Alethia Gulabe

Knowing about bloodborne pathogens is very important for cleaning staff because they often deal with areas where blood or bodily fluids is present. Bloodborne pathogens like Hepatitis B, and HIV can spread through contact with infected materials. Without proper training, a small mistake during cleaning could expose someone to serious illness.

When employees understand how to handle these risks, they can protect themselves and others. Training teaches the use of gloves, masks, and proper cleaning and disposal methods for spills or sharp objects. It also helps staff know what to do if an exposure happens, creating a safer and more confident work environment.

For cleaning businesses, this training shows responsibility. It keeps the company in compliance with OSHA safety laws, prevents accidents, and builds trust with clients. In short, knowing about bloodborne pathogens keeps employees safe, protects clients, and strengthens the company’s reputation.
