The Importance of cleaning employees and staff knowing about bloodborne pathogens

26 Mar 2020 3:27 PM | Caleb Wilson

It is extremely important that employees of a cleaning company know about bloodborne pathogens, how to handle exposure to bloodborne pathogens, and how to perform protective practices when it comes to bloodborne pathogens.  Employees must also know the universal precautions associated with bloodborne pathogens.

Bloodborne pathogens can cause diseases in humans if they are present in their blood, mucus, saliva, sweat, etc. Knowing what to do after being exposed to bloodborne pathogens is a crucial key to ones health. Employees of a cleaning company need to be educated on the topic of exposure. If exposure is not handled properly, one could run the risk of a life threatening disease such as HIV or HBV.

Employees of a cleaning company need to assume that everything they clean contains pathogens and to take infection control prevention.

Educating employees about bloodborne pathogens will help prevent infectious diseases. Taking precautions is the first step to dealing with bloodborne pathogens. It is important that employees and staff members of a cleaning company are highly educated and trained on how to work around or with bloodborne pathogens.
