Importance of Cleaning of Bloodborne Pathogens

Our health and safety while working is number one. In order to remain healthy and safe while on the job is having the background knowledge about the type of pathogens you can be exposed to. Bloodborne pathogens are infectious microorganisms in human blood that can cause disease in humans. For example, hepatitis B and C, HIV, and so many more. These pathogens can mostly be transmitted through a persons mouth, nose or open wound.

Employees should stay up to date with knowing the importance of wearing their face mask, gloves, goggles, and all personal protective equipment that would allow them to remain safe and protected while working.These pathogens can also be easily transmitted to the people they come in contact with if PPE is not practiced. It is vital for all employees and staff to become certified and up to date with OSHA's safety guidelines. Maximizing the awareness and important of maintaining a safe environment for everyone is very important.

Each new employee or existing employee should be required to attend a mandatory meeting on OSHA yearly, this will ensure that all employees and staff remain up to date and know how to properly notate an incident if it was to ever occur. All workers should know the proper way to remove any an all bacteria from surfaces such as chairs, counters, floors etc. Having a clean and sanitized environment can minimize the probability of becoming exposed to bloodborne pathogens.
