Today's environmentally conscious society has made the use of Green cleaning products, tools  and techniques increasingly popular. The mainstream media along with celebrity endorsed Green Movements have made the American public aware of the damages household and industrial cleaning products can and do create.

Green products are made without the use of toxins such as Perchloroethylene PERC,Triclosan ,Butoxyethanol ,Ammonia,Chlorine and Sodium Hydroxide. The use of these toxic chemicals can result in skin irritation, bad air quality and the dangers of ingestion by small children. Having trace elements of these toxins in the home can contribute to Asthma in children and adults.

Green cleaning  using a combination of products, practices and equipment to effectively clean while protecting both the environment and the health and well being  of the people in that environment. This along with keeping  and maintaining a satisfactory standard of disinfection and cleanliness can only improve the quality of living  both in the home and at the workplace.

I have previously worked at a clinic doing janitorial work. Working there I realized that they don't use certain cleaning products that I am use to using on my previous jobs. The Health Department went green, that meant no use of bleach, almonia or other harmful and hazardous cleaning supplies.

As being introduced to the go green movement I learned that certain chemicals that patients encounter can trigger their sickness. Green products to my knowledge are odorless and made with natural products. The product I was familiar with was simple green, the product was great, real light odor and it cleansed well.

I want to learn about Green Cleaning because I have a newborn baby in my house. So many of the everyday products we use are chemicals that are very harmful to a baby. It is important for me to have my house be a clean environment and a safe environment.

It is also very important for my career to learn about green cleaning. I am a custodian at a high school and there are certain chemicals that we are not allowed to use in the school. Not only is it productive to have alternative ways of cleaning but it will also come in handy if the school becomes low on supplies. I work in Malibu, California where the idea of reducing waste and protecting the environment is very important. Especially being hit will all the fires Malibu residents are desperate to find safe solutions to clean their houses and properties.  Someday if I start my own cleaning business I would love to have the option to use only green cleaning to satisfy many customers.

The Importance Of Cleaning Employees And Staff Knowing About Bloodborne Pathogens.

The importance of bloodborne pathogen knowledge lies between severe sickness and or death. To stress this topic will ensure safety of all  cleaning employees and staff. Having every member of your team armed with knowledge is the best defense. Knowing that all staff are adhering to all protective practices is the best offense.

Universal precaution will not protect an employee with a lack knowledge of how to protect and prevent themselves from pathogenic microorganisms. All elements of protective practices, such as equipment safety, using disposable safety wear, not consuming food or beverage, not allowing bodily fluids to come in contact with carriers, and lastly never compress bags for "sharps", will prevent accidents and maintain a safe working environment.

As an employer it is the companies responsibility to uphold and execute all OSHA requirements. Expectations of proper procedure being followed should an employee be exposed consist of, filling out all required documents as well as keeping the information files for three years after the exposure. It is the companies goal to provide a safe and healthy work environment.

Like most families going Green was a foreign concept but over the last 20 plus years we have seen the effects to the environment. With cleaning products that are not only harmful to the environment but also to mankind. But with today`s environmental friendly cleaners there is no reason to use such products.

There are over 10 thousand green products that are now available and the cost of these products are at or near the cost of the other more harsh cleaners used today I want to make a difference in the safety of my family employees and coworkers and switching to Green products is a great start!

Being in the cleaning industry for some, we can be lulled into thinking that we know it all but following my review of the blood borne pathogens course, a few things became clear for me.  First, it is imperative to wear PPE at all times.  While it is probably safe to assume that most of us wear gloves, I have not been as diligent about PPE to cover me eyes and when I have used eye protection is has been in the form of safety glasses, which are more appropriate for construction work. Goggles are more appropriate for cleaning in environments where any type of bodily fluids may be present as they provide far greater protection and reduce the chance of contact with bodily fluids.

Secondly, something that I have been guilty of many times in the past is eating and drinking either before or after cleaning, while on a customer's premises.  I did not realize that OSHA guidelines warn against this practice.  I think that most people can understand how easy this error can occur, especially when working evenings and not want to elongate our time away from our homes and family, it is pretty easy to see how and why some might be apt to eat at work.  Now that this practice has been brought to me attention as being potentially, hazardous, I'll be sure not to do it any more and I'll make sure to pass this along to my team members, especially those who clean medical facilities.

Finally, it never dawned on me to sanitize trash cans that contain potentially hazardous materials, even where no visible rips or leaks can be seen.  Going forward, I am going to sanitize all trash cans every night to further reduce the possibility of cross contamination.

In order to maintain a good carpet cleaning program, you need a plan of action, organizational structure, needed materials, and to record progress/ratings.

The plan of action includes, preparing a schedule, demonstrate different tasks, responsibility, allocations and performance targets. The organizational structure is the support to make sure the plan of action happens smoothly.

It is through promotion, training/workshops, encouraging teamwork, and mentoring that enhances innovation, creativity, and great customer ratings.

The needed materials are based on how much the job requires. Recording progress and rating helps with customer satisfaction, building a large industry vs only a small business.

In the cleaning industry, businesses may try new cleaning products, procedures, research and development, or executing/creating policies. Its like a game of trial and error.

When it comes to carpet cleaning there can be no errors. If you make an error you forever leave your customers and clients with a stain on their carpet that they will always remember you by. In turn, giving you negative reviews.

Don`t trust your carpets to amateurs. Find professional certified carpet cleaning companies here.
