Caloundra Road Corridor Call for Tenders

09 Jun 2025 10:09 PM | Ellie Norman (Administrator)

The Sunshine Coast Council reports that:

The design for the road corridor is finalised and a call for construction tenders will go out shortly. Over the past year, the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Council have optimised the Caloundra Transport Corridor design which was shaped by input from our community and Stakeholder Interest Group. The final design reflects community input and balances infrastructure development needs with environmental preservation, liveability and sustainability.

CTCU Project to Lift the Bar on Sustainability

The Caloundra Transport Corridor Upgrade (CTCU) is gearing up for its next major milestone, with the construction tender release just around the corner. Spearheaded by Sunshine Coast Council in partnership with the Department of Transport and Main Roads, this transformative project is more than just a transport upgrade—it’s a bold step toward a more sustainable future for local transport infrastructure. With elevated sustainability benchmarks embedded in the design, Council is seeking delivery partners who can bring innovative, future-focused, sustainability solutions to the construction phase—solutions that meet technical demands and enhance long-term economic, social and environmental outcomes.

Tendering opportunities are expected to attract strong interest as the procurement phase advances. Contractors who can offer Council a clear, attainable plan and commitment to embedding sustainability in construction of the CTCU will be highly regarded in Council’s appointment of the construction contract. Commitment to initiatives that deliver tangible outcomes in sustainability including:

  • maximising resource and energy efficiency and minimising waste;
  • maximising the use of recycled materials in the built infrastructure
  • reducing the cost, social and environmental impacts through carefully considered or innovative construction methodologies
  • preferencing the engagement of supply chain and construction partners who have a recognised commitment and capability to providing sustainability in the construction of transport infrastructure

This project is an exciting opportunity for industry to contribute to a future-focused corridor that balances growth, liveability, and environmental outcomes for the Sunshine Coast community.
