Bloodborne Pathogens For Cleaning Employees

Bloodborne pathogens are bacteria or viruses that are present in human body fluids and blood that can cause diseases in humans.

These diseases include Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV. It is essential that cleaning personnel treat all blood and body fluids as if it could be infected.

All employees must wear protective equipment which includes gloves and goggles. Clean up broken glass and sharps with tongs, and broom & dust pan, never use your hands, even with gloves on.

If exposed notify the supervisor immediately and seek medical treatment.
