SAFETY FIRST should be the operational theme of any cleaning company charged with the janitorial duties for any given facility. Safety of the janitorial employees, the facility employees, and any clients, visitors, vendors, etc., who may enter the facility.
The understanding and handling of all solutions and chemicals used in the performance of a janitors' duties is an utmost prerequisite in workplace safety. Employees must become familiar with Safety Data Sheets, the information found thereon, and cautionary statements attributed to each product. Making SDS information readily available and providing training can ensure that employees comply with these regulations.
The handling of the possibly dangerous chemicals and substances found in the workplace is crucial and must be taken seriously by facility management, janitorial company management, and janitorial employees.
