In the cleaning industry, knowledge of bloodborne pathogens is not just an added benefit but a critical necessity. Bloodborne pathogens, which include viruses like hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and HIV, are infectious microorganisms present in blood that can cause disease in humans. For cleaning staff who often encounter various forms of waste and bodily fluids, understanding the risks and proper handling techniques is paramount. This knowledge protects not only the cleaning employees but also the clients and the broader community from potential infections.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has established guidelines that emphasize the importance of training for employees who may come into contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials (OPIM). This training includes understanding the modes of transmission, recognizing the risks associated with exposure, and implementing standard precautions such as using personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper hand hygiene. By adhering to these guidelines, cleaning staff can significantly reduce the risk of occupational exposure and ensure a safer working environment.

Moreover, well-trained employees contribute to the overall reputation and credibility of a cleaning service company. Clients are more likely to trust and continue doing business with companies that prioritize the health and safety of their employees and clients. Comprehensive training programs that educate cleaning staff about bloodborne pathogens not only comply with legal requirements but also demonstrate a company's commitment to professional excellence and public health. In an industry where health and safety are paramount, equipping staff with the necessary knowledge and skills to handle bloodborne pathogens is an investment in the well-being of everyone involved.

Implementing medical cleaning in residential or commercial settings can be done by first obtaining the knowledge of germs, viruses, and pathogens that can be present in a medical setting but also apply that knowledge to a residential or commercial setting. By applying this knowledge and further educating yourself, you can walk into either a commercial or residential property and be prepared for anything that may resemble a cleaning for a medical facility.

By doing this, you can also implement the proper utilization of PPE while also performing your duties. In a residential setting you would do your visual inspection, dust, and clean various surfaces. By implementing the use of PPE in residential or commercial cleaning such as goggles for example, you can clean high dust areas such as vents, light fixtures, and other areas that are located above your shoulders and protect yourself from any germs that may be harboring in these areas.

The amount of hand hygiene that is performed in a medical cleaning setting can also be implemented. By implementing the way a professional who would clean a medical facility washes their hands each time they exit a patients room, it decreases the likelihood of cross contamination and if you were to implement this into a residential and commercial setting you would wash your hands after every room you would clean which can also decrease the likelihood of cross contamination.

Implementing the strategies of medical cleaning into a residential and commercial setting can also improve the cleanliness and the ending result of the job and the decrease in bacteria being transferred. By focusing on high touch surfaces in a residential and commercial setting as much as you you would in a medical facility would help aid in germ control and virus control. Implementing other strategies such as using the figure eight method shown can also increase the ability of covering more surface area resulting in a more effective clean. By utilizing these strategies and PPE that are implemented in medical cleaning, cleanliness in a residence or commercial setting would be at a higher level and also decrease the never ending possibilities of being exposed to everyday germs and viruses. There are many advantages to hiring a professional to do a job in your home. For one, they have the licenses or certifications and two, because they were trained, they know what they are doing. When getting your home cleaned you don't want just anyone to clean your house because there are just too many things that can go wrong.

The key advantages, however, to hiring a professional cleaner that is also certified as a residential cleaning specialist through the IJCSA is far beyond just the service that will be received but the quality of work will have you wanting to not use another company again.

As I say this, let me speak of some examples. When cleaning your home we are specialized in "special cleaning" which allows us to work on removing mold/mildew while other companies will tell you that you need to hire someone else to take care of it and most of the time, some of these companies that come to clean your home will either refuse to clean that area or clean it wrong causing the mold to keep coming back and worse, spread more.

Step by step we carefully examine from top to bottom what needs to be done in each room individually and not also focus on one task at a time to ensure it gets done, but we also use the proper equipment and techniques to make sure it gets done correctly. For instance, we do not use the same cloth for everything. We use three different cloths each color coded for a specific purpose to ensure everything is properly clean and no grease, dust, or bacteria is spread to harm you or your valuables at home.

Another thing, hiring a cleaner that is certified as a residential cleaning specialist through the IJCSA will ultimately save a customer time because a lot of things we will do in your home as a "standard" clean, a lot of other companies will want to charge extra as if it were a "deep clean" or "extra" service. Many things that I have noticed is that I can hire someone and if they do not do one thing and I go back to them, they will tell me that it costs extra however, at IJCSA these cleaners, these companies that are certified through this organization as Residential cleaning specialists are real specialists and do what they are supposed to do rather than other companies who will do some of what they're supposed to do but also charge extra on things that shouldn't.

Whenever one is working with blood or any bodily fluids it is important to remember your universal precautions. Always clean up afterwards,  sterilizing the area to prevent people from coming in contact with Germs, Bacteria, or pathogenic micronism.

Bloodborne pathogens are Pathanogenic Microorganisms that are present in the human body and can cause diseases. What are universal precautions? Universal precautions are a set of infection control practices used in Healthcare to prevent the transmission of diseases that can be spread through the body and other bodily fluids. The principal behind universal precautions is to treat all patients as if they are potentially infectious. This minimizes the risk of transmission.
