Mold. It creeps in and can take over in no time, sometimes unknown to us until we notice health issues that we hadn't before!

Anyone of us who has ever come across mold growth in our homes or places of business can attest to the dread and concern that comes with the discovery.

It's all around us, as it is a naturally occurring fungus. That's fine outdoors, but indoors, it can wreak havoc on property, materials...and inside our bodies.

Mold, fungus, and the spores and mycotoxic biproduct that they produce can cause inflammatory responses in our respiratory systems, such as Hypersensitivity Pnemonitis, asthma attacks, and symptoms similar to Hay-Fever. Not to mention the damage to our homes and offices if it is not properly and fully cleaned and restored.

This is where MOLD REMEDIATION comes into play and saves the day!

International Janitorial Cleaning Services Association (IJCSA) offers lists of trained and certified cleaning companies that are available for your professional Mold Remediation needs, at your fingertips.

These certified companies will be able to investigate, evaluate, and remediate moisture issues and mold areas to help prevent the spread into uncontaminated areas, and save your home, building, and health.

Let a trained professional help eliminate your mold problems safely and effectively! Find your certified service here.

Bloodborne Pathogens are microorganisms that live in the human blood, and has the potential to cause various diseases if exposed. Some of these diseases are but not  limited to, HBV Hepatitis B Virus and/or HIV Human deficiency Virus, and I'm guessing we can add COVID_19 to that list now. Gaining the proper knowledge about Bloodborne pathogens and their exposures, can be the reason someone is here tomorrow.

Working in the sports/entertainment business, these past four months has taken my job importance, from needed to mandated. I am the Event Coordinator for the cleaning department at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. A year after rewriting our cleaning protocols, the CDC are now requiring companies to write them over.

It looks like Cleaning will be the number one job for all markets leading into the reopening of the States. It is now essential for Places of business to have a cleaning criteria in place to protect against the COVID_19, so i must first educate myself on the requirements from the CDC and then transfer that information the cleaning team. Blood and fluid transfer is a very big threat in our industry and nation today, and we must work together to keep ourselves and each other safe.

Green cleaning is the process of choosing cleaning products that are better for both people and the planet. Switching to green cleaning products is good for the health and well being of people, and it also prevents unnecessary chemicals from being released into the environment.

Changing to greener methods helps reduce pollution to our waterways and the air and it minimizes your impact on ozone depletion and global climate change with fewer smog-producing chemicals. Going green has several benefits for a cleaning company and for a business during these challenging times because that process can improve their efficiency and produce a healthier workplace.

What is customer service? Is it how well the service is performed? Is it being punctual? How about prompt communication with the client, done in a friendly manner?

Yes. Customer service is all of these mentioned and more!

Here in the janitorial and professional cleaning business, we react heavily with the public on a daily basis. From initial estimates, to scheduling appointments, communicating clients about any issues or concerns, having excellent customer service is absolutely essential to getting the job done correctly, and leaving the client satisfied with our services.

For so many of us small business owners, creating something wonderful to offer the public and to offer something useful to help our communities is a life-long goal, and the driving force behind our businesses. We have dreamed of building something fantastic from the ground up, using our own hands, and our passion to help others. Customer service will always be the cornerstone of that foundation, because without first putting our clients' needs with the services that we offer, there is nothing to build upon!

In 1991 the Occupational Safety and Health Administration or simply known as OSHA instituted a standard for facilities handling any type of infectious material. This practice was updated in 2001 and made mandatory for all new employees that have the potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens or potentially infectious material. Employees should be trained within 10 days of hire and then annually. The Bloodborne Pathogen training is mandatory in the healthcare field or any business that deals with infectious materials or where any employee may have a reasonable risk for exposure.

Employees should be trained in the knowledge to be able to safely clean offices or job sites without posing a hazard to themselves. 2 of the most important, but not limited to, microorganisms that employers need to train their employees on are Hepatitis B Virus or HBV and Human Immunodeficiency Virus or HIV. An open area in the skin is a portal or entry site for the microorganism. Any breaks in the skin should be covered prior to commencing any cleaning activity, so as to close the portal of entry. Employees in healthcare facilities should be offered the Hepatits B vaccine free of charge. The vaccine is a series of 3 shots given at Month 1 Month 3 and Month 6.  Employees that are in charge of cleaning facilities with medical waste should be trained in the proper handling and disposal of infectious waste. Any cut, scrape, stick or puncture should be immediately reported to a Supervisor so that the employee can be checked at a healthcare facility.

Employees should have access to their company's Exposure Control Plan.

This training is important for employees as it makes them aware of potential hazards in the work place. This also benefits clients as they know the company that they are hiring is taking care in training their employees and that the cleaning company can also teach the client's employees on the benefits of safe workplace habits.
