Medical cleaning practices are very strict in the sense that there are rules to follow when it comes to the cleaning. Since medical facilities need to be properly clean to avoid patient getting sick medical cleaning practices can benefit residential and commercial places. The majority of people won’t be familiar with some of the rules and proper methods went dealing with cleaning chemical.

Some of those standards can help other residential and commercial situations in the sense that if they can implement a higher standard of cleaning there would be less people getting sick. There would be a lower number of people calling in sick to work and to school. Medical cleaning practices implementation at home can also help you avoid going to the doctor because of bacteria’s or virus that could have been avoidable if we were to do a deeper cleaning with the right cleaning chemicals.

A good idea to implement is to have a higher standardard level of cleaning for all types of situations, for homes and work places. By implementing medical cleaning practices across the board we can have a better control when it comes to people getting sick. According to the CDC, cleaning alone effectively reduces the number of microorganisms on contaminated equipment. Now imagine having the knowledge to use the correct chemicals it can really impact us in a good way.

Now, that we are in a pandemic cleaning is crucial and knowing and implementing the high standards of medical cleaning can keep a better control of the spread. For example, knowing that we should clean with color rags that way we are not cross contaminating areas and knowing about how to correctly use chemical that can kill harmful virus and germs. Cleaning an individuals house, a store, a school, or a medical facility it is important to understand that diseases and germs can be on any service  and spread super easy. But some germs are not your simple cold or flu that you heal and recover. Some can make you really sick, cause life long health issues, or death.

Educating staff and employees on bloodborne pathogens is important to help prevent serious health consequences. When you train your employees properly you prevent the spread of those diseases like hep b and C and HIV in the facility or place you are cleaning then you also protect your staff.

Proper training helps staff and employees to recognize and learn the risk and minimize exposure and transmission. And created a safer work enviroment.

It is vital that all employees that may come in contact with bloodborne pathogens know and understand the process in which to handle exposure. This will minimize the risk the employee has of obtaining a bloodborne pathogen, such as Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV, as well as protect any other person who may come in contact.

Having each employee know how a bloodborne pathogen is contracted will help them to navigate situations more carefully. For example, knowing that it is transferred through blood, but also bodily fluids will prepare them to wear the appropriate safety gear, such as gloves or even goggles when cleaning. This applies not only to medical facilities, but anywhere that the public may utilize such as trash cans or public restrooms. You may not realize there was a contaminated needle or bloody paper towel buried in a bathroom trash until it was too late. Taking the proper precautions could save your employees in the event that they do come across something unexpected.

Cleaning up bodily fluids is something that most cleaners, even in areas other than the medical field, will come across at some point. Whether it be a trashcan, feminine product dispenser or the toilet, it is crucial for your employees to know the best practices in cleaning when it comes to encountering bodily fluids. Having the correct disinfectant, waste baskets and clearly labeled bags and safety wear, will ensure they have everything they need to safely clean and dispose of any potentially harmful items.

Properly trained employees will not have to guess how to rectify a situation when they have to face it. It is always better to be over-prepared, than to backtrack and try to learn about something after the fact. Having this training be required and specific instructions readily available, helps them to understand the severity of these illnesses if contracted, and also gives them peace of mind knowing they have the tools to calmly handle issues in an otherwise stressful situation. Giving them the tools needed will leave no time for guessing.

Bloodborne Pathogens awareness is essential to all. Hepetitis B, Hepititis C and HIV are infectious Bloodborne Pathogens that put individuals at risk of serious illness if come in contact. It is crucial to make sure anyone working in any industry known for possible risk receives adequate training on how to: prevent exposure, minimize risk and to properly clean and dispose of bodily functions. Understanding the risk is to know that not only the persons involved in exposure but also to the persons handling the waste and even persons who use the exposed area following an incident. Employers must keep record in the OSHA data sheets following any bodily function exposure as symptoms may not show for a couple years after exposure.

Any persons involved in the cleanup of bodily fluids must resort to the proper exposure cleaning kit and utilize the appropriate PPE. It is important to understand the correct way to cleanup using approved cleaning solutions and dispose of waste to prevent further exposures. Using the bio Hazard bags and sharps containers play a key role in how the waste is handled.

It is very important to be aware of how to properly dispose of waste but using the correct protocols in removing PPE is just as essential in preventing exposure. Cleaners should start from head to toe in removing PPE and taking gloves off last making sure to flip inside out when removing to minimize contact.

Janitors and janitorial staff play one of the most essential but often overlooked roles in maintaining the health, safety, and functionality of our everyday environments. From the buildings where we work and shop, to the schools where children learn, and the medical facilities where we receive care, janitorial professionals ensure each space remains clean, sanitized, and usable. Without their daily efforts, the places we rely on would quickly become unsafe, disorganized, and unsanitary. Their work forms the backbone of healthy communities, preventing the spread of illness and maintaining environments where people can thrive.

Beyond cleaning, janitorial professionals support public health in ways many people don't even realize. Tasks such as disinfecting high-touch surfaces, managing waste properly, using HEPA-filtered equipment, and maintaining restroom sanitation all significantly reduce exposure to harmful bacteria, viruses, and allergens. In workplaces and schools, this leads directly to fewer sick days and greater productivity. In hospitals, clinics, and senior-care facilities, janitorial staff are a frontline defense against dangerous pathogens. Their training in bloodborne pathogens, green cleaning, and proper chemical handling ensures that buildings are not only visually clean but also truly safe for every occupant.

Janitors also contribute to the overall quality of life in meaningful, human-centered ways. They create environments that feel welcoming, well-maintained, and professional. A clean office lobby influences first impressions, just as a spotless classroom supports student focus and morale. Their presence provides comfort, knowing that someone is continuously working behind the scenes to protect the well-being of all who enter. In many ways, janitors are the quiet heroes of people’s daily lives and individuals whose dedication keeps society running smoothly, safely, and with dignity. Recognizing their importance elevates not only the profession but also the respect they deserve for the essential service they provide every single day.
