The importance of choosing a green cleaning service over a traditional cleaning company can not be overstated. There are benefits to the health of customers, employees, and the environment when compared to the potentially harmful chemicals contained in legacy cleaners.

You might be surprised to find that green cleaning doesn't refer to just the chemicals used in your kitchen and bathroom. There are green options to consider in nearly every facet of cleaning. There are many great green cleaning services which work on commercial properties, such as First Up Cleaning Services, LLC, located in Uniondale, New York. There are even green air duct cleaners, like Lily's Cleaning Service, LLC in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Many more green cleaners can be found through the IJCSA's Green Cleaning Services Directory. Searches can be filtered by geographical area and by what fields of green cleaning that the service specializes in. For every cleaning need you have, consider going green with a certified green cleaning service.

The first step involved in starting any type of business is writing a business plan. Business plans are crucial for entrepreneurs, as they provide a navigable roadmap detailing your business’s goals and how you aim to get there over the course of the next few months (or years, if you’re taking the long view) with your current resources. Your first business plan can really be as formal or informal, detailed or broad, as you feel comfortable creating. It’s a living document, too, so you can always revisit your plan as your business gains traction and your goals and resources shift.

But at the very least, your first business plan should address the following questions:

    • Who are your target customers and what services will you provide for them?
    • What tools and equipment do you need to get started?
    • What’s your hiring plan?
    • How will you market your services?
    • What are your financial goals?
    • How much will you charge for your services?

We’ll stress again that your first business plan is not set in stone. Rather, think of your initial plan as an opportunity for you to organize your thoughts and take stock of your resources. That way, you’ll feel confident launching your business from a solid foundation.

    Plan Your Budget

Along with your business plan, you’ll need to make preliminary plans for your expenses. Take stock of how much cash you have on hand, and how much additional funding you might need to get yourself off the ground. Also calculate your equipment costs; relevant startup costs like business licenses, training and certification costs, and wages, if you plan on hiring staff; as well as your expected daily expenses, like gas for your truck.

There are Green Certified floor care strippers, glosses, and finishes on the market and their use is met with mixed reviews.

We’ve noticed when we use our Xtralift 9E01 with biokleen Carpet & Rug Shampoo we and our customer are satisfied with the results! Dirty water that remains in carpet can be a source of fungal growth and could also prolong the drying process. The extractor is used to remove most of the moisture resulting from a 'wet' cleaning process. The plant based enzymes control the odor and the Xtralift E901 removes most of the water in the carpet, allowing it to quickly dry.

Being a member of IJCSA and using Green Cleaning Products assist’s us in giving our clients the best and most eco-friendly environmentally clean possible, thus allowing Imagann Cleaning Services, Inc. in reducing our carbon footprint in the world of janitorial services.

Green cleaning has many benefits especially for your own personal and those around you. Here are 2 reasons why Green cleaning is so important. If you go green, "No longer will there be chemicals absorbed into the skin or breathed in by the person cleaning," This goes for both work and home cleaning. Second Investing in green products also makes sense for companies. The cost of environmentally friendly cleaning products has become much more competitive, while cleaning in an environmentally sound way reduces the risk of sick days for employees and the risk of fires and chemical spills. These are two reasons why we use green cleaning products in our business to ensure our customers stay healthy and also save money.

Bloodborne Pathogens training is required of all cleaning employees.  A bloodborne pathogens: pathogenic microorganisms that are present in human blood and can cause disease in humans. It is important for employees to follow the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens standards to reduce self infections and properly handling of infectious materials. This practice was only used in hospital and health care industry in the past but now has been expanded to all that may come in contact with blood while working.

Employees should never eat, drink, smoke or apply lip balm near  potential and/or infectious areas.  Employees need to follow Universal Precautions when cleaning up an infectious area.  Universal Precaution: recommends that blood and certain body-fluids from ALL patients be considered potentially infectious and that infection control precautions be taken to minimize the risk of exposure.  Contamination can be made by cleaning up after a sick child, emptying the trash or soiled laundry.  Protective precautions employees are to wear latex or vinyl gloves and safety goggles. Approved OSHA cleaning products like clean up kits and absorbent.

When cleaning or disposing of soiled laundry color coded bags approved by OSHA should be used.  This will lessen your chance of getting exposed to HIV, HBV or Hepatitis B. Use thongs to pick up needles or waste and place in properly color containers.  All cleaning businesses will incorporate their own Written Exposure Plan that will be kept up to date but needs to be reviewed annually.  OSHA requests that all employers are to maintain records for up to 3 years.  More information on OSHA Guidelines can be found at www.osha.gov.
