Staying Safe from Bloodborne Pathogens

11 Oct 2025 7:48 AM | Jeremy Larsen

Keeping a healthcare facility safe from BBP (Bloodborne Pathogens) is critical not just for our staff and workers, but also to keep the building clean and contained from any unwanted diseases. BBP are pathogenic microorganisms that live in human blood and can pose serious health risks if handled incorrectly. Unlike cleaning restaurants and office buildings where BBP doesn’t pose a major risk, cleaning facilities where these diseases do lurk requires staff that are well versed in these situations. These messes can be dangerous, especially for those on the front lines who are the most likely to come in contact with BBP. This is one of many reasons why we make sure our staff have gone through OSHA’s regulatory requirements so they are fully prepared before handling this type of job.

OSHA requires BBP training for any staff that may be exposed. This training covers the proper disposal of contaminated material, the use of protective equipment, and immediate action on any potential hazards to significantly reduce risk. By following these standards, our staff are not only protecting themselves but also everyone who enters the facility.

At CleanX we understand how important safety and sanitation is in healthcare environments, which is why we take this seriously. It’s not just about keeping the space visually appealing, but also about protecting people from threats that may not be visible to the naked eye like BBP. By ensuring our staff is trained, certified, and confident in their ability to handle risks like these, we create peace of mind for our clients, workers, and patients alike.
