It is very important for cleaning employees and staff to know about Bloodborne Pathogens.

Bloodborne Pathogens are pathogenic microorganisms that are present in the human blood which that can cause HepB,HIV. When the Pathogen comes in contact with the employees membrane (nose, mouth or breaking the skin) that is an exposure.Working in any type of environment that have Bloodborne Pathogens, safety procedures must be in place.

Employees and staff should have access to OSHA (Ocupational Saftey Health Administration policy. All employees and staff should wear protective gear, gloves eye wear, ect. Never eat, drink, smoke or apply lip balm.Don’t compress trash bags to ensure you don’t get punctured by any needles.Use absorbent spill kits for bodily fluids and use label and color coded bags and containers to dispose items in its proper place.

Always wash your hands and disinfect equipment with Betco products (Quadstad and TB plus)which helps minimize the risk of exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens .If anyone feels like they have been exposed immediately contact your Supervisor and doctor.Employers need to also keep a written exposure plan to give upon request.
