Great customer service is making sure the customer is happy, comfortable, feel valuable and heard. A great customer service is crucial to the success of any business especially the cleaning business. A great customer service has many steps to it. It all starts by listening to the customer, making sure you pay full attention to what the problem or complaint is, maintain eye contact and a smile. Then repeat to the customer to confirm you understood the problem and to let them know that you were actually listening. Then you apologize for the bad experience they had and you explain to them how you will solve the problem. After you agree with them on how you will solve the problem, thank them for the feedback and tell them how much you appreciate them reaching out to you and letting you know.

This is what members of the IJCSA are known for and do best. They are trained on customer service and how to provide a professional service that meets the customer's expectations and needs. They understand how important it is for their business. Great customer service puts the customer first and helps their business grow through referrals and great reviews.

A properly cleaned healthcare facility is very important. Whether it is an Urgent Care, Doctors Office, or what most of us instantly think when we hear healthcare facility, a Hospital. These may be different in purpose but they have one thing in common, they can all harbor dangerous germs, viruses and bacteria. If not cleaned properly it can put it's occupants at great risk and you at a great risk while visiting these facilities. The cleaning companies found on the IJCSA JANITORIAL SERVICES DIRECTORY know how to keep you protected.

HAI's or (Hospital Associated Infections) are often thought of as an infection received while in a hospital, but these HAI's can be anywhere in a healthcare facilities network. If you go to a doctor's office or an urgent care and expose an open wound you could get an infection from a surface that hasn't been cleaned properly.

Using the correct method to clean these facilities will greatly reduce HAI's in healthcare settings. Cleaning from dry to wet, top to bottom and least contaminated to most contaminated. Following these steps while using the correct method and hospital approved disinfectants will eliminate cross contamination and remove the dangerous germs, viruses and bacteria. When cleaned properly in between patients or at night by the cleaner, it protects both the occupants and patients. Everyday cleaning supplies often have toxic chemicals in them. While they are not obvious in the ingredients, these chemicals can cause irritation in the lungs, eyes, and throat. In those whose health is high risk, it creates additional problems and may exacerbate their symptoms. This creates an environment that is unsafe in both households and businesses.

Harmful chemicals not only affect humans, but also our outdoor surroundings. Everyday chemicals may contain VOC's, which can have a significant impact on the ozone. As these chemicals become airborne, using them will affect the outdoor world. The environment that we live in should be protected. By choosing safer options to clean, we can avoid sending toxic substances into our air.

Rather than continue to use harmful chemicals in our cleaning procedures, switching to natural green products would improve a company's reputation. As the company uses more natural products, other clients would see the attention and effort put into the health and safety of both clients and employees. As a company uses natural products, the ease of mind for employees allows them to perform better in their work. This increases the welfare of the company and in turn comes with added benefits.

Furthermore, natural cleaning products benefits both the health of others and the health of our planet. We can take a proactive stance for health and welfare by using green products while also not compromising on the quality of the product. It has been shown that natural cleaning products have the same or better performance than everyday cleaning chemicals.

By using natural cleaning products, the company can benefit from improved health of employees, a proper stance on environment welfare, and a good reputation. Instead of using generic cleaning products and affecting others, a company can switch to green products and still get the same quality that they had. This results in a more well rounded, self-aware company.

It is important for employees and staff to understand the practice of Bloodborne Pathogen certification and Universal Precautions when dealing with blood or bodily fluids. Universal precautions teaches to assume any human blood or bodily fluids may be affected by BBP (bloodborne pathogens). As such when dealing with a situation that requires clean up and sanitizing of such an area those involved in the cleaning must be aware of the risks and hazards when dealing with this type of waste.

Some ways to help mitigate the risks are to practice the following guidelines:

    1. Hand hygiene - wash hands thoroughly prior to eating, drinking, applying lip balm, or any other activity that may expose you to BBP
    2. Use of personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves, masks, eyewear). - PPE used properly can help reduce risk of exposure
    3. Respiratory hygiene / cough etiquette. - Cover it, don't spread it.
    4. Sharps safety (engineering and work practice controls). - Be very careful when handling hypodermic needles or other objects that may have come in contact with blood or other bodily fluids
    5. Safe injection practices (i.e., aseptic technique for parenteral medications).
    6. Sterile instruments and devices. - Don't reuse instruments or tools that have come possibly come in contact with BBP
    7. Clean and disinfected environmental surfaces. - Keep all areas clean and disinfected to prevent further spread of pathogens
    8. Awareness of any open wounds when handling blood or bodily fluids as that is one of the most common ways to transmit an infection

In the end, we want all our employees and staff to go home safe to their family and friends. To do so it is important to follow OSHA's BBP training to keep co-workers, family, and friends safe. It is the responsibility of all professionals to do their part by following the practices of the OSHA BBP certification program.

When cleaning, it is vital to know and understand the proper procedures in how to clean while preventing any accidents to happen or unwanted exposure, hence learning about what to wear, what to use to clean, as well as how to prevent myself from coming in contact with a bloodborne pathogens, followed by what to do if I do come in contact with a bloodborne pathogen can serve as an effective tool for me to use in the future.

It also emphasizes on the importance of safely handling garbage, laundry, and medical equipment, all basic things that we can easily come in contact with.  Overall I was pleased with the BP course and feel it it is one that all should know simply to prevent common mistakes from happening in the future

Implementing medical cleaning and sanitization practices into residential or commercial cleaning could greatly benefit the world. By taking the risk of spreading bad germs, bacteria and viruses the population would see a decrease of infectious deaths.

By following proper hand sanitization and PPE for people who are sick or coming into contact with people who are sick or contagious the world could avoid outbreaks of disease and viruses. For example H1N1. How was it spread so vastly and quickly? By people who were infected, some even knowing they were, and still going into public. Either because they had no choice or because they didn't know.

Implementing medical cleaning to other areas could greatly reduce diseases being wide spread and possibly even spread at all in the future. Businesses would know the correct way to prevent the infection as well as stop it from spreading. By following the proper protocols they wouldn't have to worry about bringing it home to their family/friends and they wouldn't have to worry about customers either contracting it or bringing it in and spreading it.

Along with understanding the proper protocols of cleaning and sanitization of residential places and commercial areas people being made aware of using PPE and the correct order to put it on could also help to keep residential and commercial businesses from contracting or spreading diseases, viruses and germs.

Cleanliness is essential for every healthcare setting, as it is tasked with protecting the health of millions of people every day. Part of maintaining patients' well-being is protecting them from bacteria that may be present in a facility that provides medical treatment. Regular cleaning is important to most businesses, but it's absolutely essential for any healthcare setting, whether it's a small doctor's office or a large hospital.

A messy or unsanitary healthcare business is unlikely to be a profitable one, patients aren't going to want to return to medical setting that aren't professionally maintained. Healthcare businesses should not only keep the medical side of their offices disinfected, but also thoroughly clean the public areas of their facility. Dirty seat cushions in the waiting room, filled waste cans, or visible dirt or grime on the floors and furnishings suggest that the facility does not take the responsibility of maintaining a safe, healthy environment seriously.

To maintain a professional medical setting, routine cleaning is essential. Whether the business concerned is a busy outpatient facility or a small dental practice, professional environmental cleaning services can help ensure your patients' expectations are being met every day. Environmental cleaning is important for reducing microbial contamination of surfaces and subsequent risk for HAIs. Environmental cleaning is a complex, multifaceted process and involves the physical action of cleaning surfaces to remove organic and inorganic material, followed by application of a disinfectant, as well as monitoring strategies to ensure the appropriateness of these practices.

In this day and age, maintaining a proper cleaning regiment in our health care facilities is crucial to stop the spread of infectious dieses. On a regular day, we potentially come in contact with numerous viruses and bacteria's that could really harm us. We never know when it happens and how it happens. As humans, we carry many different bacteria's, viruses, parasites and microorganisms, some are harmful and some are not. When the harmful ones makes us sick, we head straight to a health care facility to help us feel better.

Since we all depend on the health care system to make us feel better, it is imperative that we equip them with all the knowledge and equipment to stop the spread of the infection, protect themselves from becoming sick and most importantly how to stop the infection. Without the know how or the equipment, not only do the medical staff risk exposing themselves but everyone else as well. With that said, everyone should know how to properly clean the healthcare facilities.

If we do not properly clean the healthcare facilities we risk the spread of any blood pathogens from patient to everyone else. Because we cannot see the bacteria's, viruses and microorganisms with the human eye, we have to make sure we are constantly disinfecting everything in between patients. We cannot take the chance that just because a patient does not seem sick that they are not sick. A simple sneeze can carry thousands of germs that may not have made you sick, but may make the little girl behind you sick.

We depend on our health care facilities to not only make us feel better, but to save our lives and the lives of our loved ones. In order for them to do that, we need to make sure they are equipped with all the PPE's and chemicals to keep their facilities clean and us safe. Below is a link to a janitorial directory to help you find the perfect company to help keep your facilities clean.

Bloodborne Pathogens are an extremely important matter that can be life threatening but can be prevented with the proper education, procedures, and vaccinations. Some of the most known being HIV, HBV, and HCV. These can be transmitted through blood as well as other bodily fluids.

It is not only important to educate ourselves but our team members as well so we can create an environment that is safe. The ways that we can create a safe space are having an exposure control plan, proper PPE, and assuming that any bodily fluid could potentially be infectious.

It is extremely important that as cleaning professionals we take this matter very seriously. I personally know how many people and places that I come in contact with on a day to day basis and how many lives I could potentially effect by not following proper procedures.
