We are all at risk to bloodborne pathogens in all work places, some not as much as other but it is very crucial that we all know and understand what our part to help prevent the spread and to keep ourselves safe while in the work place. It is important to note that people who are infected with bloodborne pathogens may not show any signs or symptoms, so it is essential that ALL persons in the workplace be considered infectious. This means that any and all precautions must be taken to avoid contact with others.

We must always use the proper PPE when dealing with bloodborne pathogens or anything that may be possibly infected , to prevent ourselves from being infected as well. Always wash hands thoroughly after taking gloves off and disposing of them and all disposable PPE. It is our job in the work place to make sure each other is safe from bloodborne pathogens.

It is essential that all employees and staff not only know about bloodborne pathogens but also get the proper training on how to eliminate exposure when in the janitorial/cleaning business. If you don’t know what bloodborne pathogens are then you can’t possibly clean contaminated things (i.e. items, bedding etc.) properly. By not cleaning properly or handling the care of items properly you cause several severe risk for not only yourself but other employees and/or clients. You also need to understand how to handle the transportation of contaminated waste.

Bloodborne pathogens are pathogenic microorganisms that are present in human blood and can cause disease in humans. For example, diseases like HBV, HIV & AIDS but not limited to such. It is easy to be exposed to to bloodborne pathogens if you aren’t extremely careful. Pathogens can come in contact with  your mucus membranes by your mouth, nose, human bites, cuts and abrasions.

To prevent exposure while cleaning it is best you wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as eye wear, mask, gloves and more depending on other factors. OSHA recommends that you follow universal precautions to protect yourself. Which basically is assuming that blood and certain bodily fluids from ALL patients be considered potentially infectious and that infection control precautions be taken to minimize the risk of exposure.

When assisting with the transportation of waste/contaminated waste it should be color-coded or labeled in a sufficient way to let all employees know that compliance with universal precautions is required. It gives a heads up to others to be aware if its contaminated or not.

Cars Recon is a company that details cars to be sold at an auto auction. I am an employee at Cars, and I am getting certified to handle cars marked as biohazard. These cars may contain animal/insect infestations, blood and/or other bodily fluids, or mold. These cars are an important project for the company and shows our abilities to refurbish these used vehicles.

Mold control vehicles make up a large amount of biohazard jobs. It would be very beneficial to have another set of hands taking care of the duties. Currently there is only one person taking care of these cars. With me getting certified to work on them, we would be able to handle more work and work more efficiently to take care of hazardous vehicles.

Many cleaning supplies or house hold products can irritate the eyes, throat, skin or cause many other health problems. some products can even cause cancer in people or wildlife exposed to the hazardous substance. there are even some (VOCs) volatile organic compounds that can cause these problems.

Some products that cause breathing or respiratory problems are a result of the toxic fumes. some of the pollutants evaporate into the air and contribute to smog in major city's. when these fumes are inhaled it causes difficulty breathing and irritation of the throat and possible loss of human life.

Keep in mind that a product that is hazardous is only as safe as the person using it and following the instructions. by using a green cleaning method, you are limiting the risk to exposure if at all any. it is a good practice to use and manage. by following simple steps for cleaning with out hazardous chemical or methods, you are limiting your self to exposure of harmful substances.

Sanitizing are homes and business and bodies is often viewed as all out war. We aim at killing every last germ. this way of thinking fueled the creation of more hazardous chemicals and antimicrobial cleaning products. using these products might seem ike a good idea but it is not

Green cleaning reduces the exposure to toxic and dangerous chemicals. By practicing green cleaning you are creating a healthier environment. chemicals wont be absorbed into the skin or breathed in. choose one of are green cleaning specialist for your green cleaning needs by checking out IJCSA registry. Click Here

what i have learned is more than i did before i started. i had borax and baking soda laying around along with white vinegar. these materials have been vital in my own cleaning. i enjoy the results and the fact that i am not being exposed to hazardous materials.

another thing i realized was that i could use borax and baking soda for my laundry detergent. my whites come out white and i can add any natural clear essential oil to the mix and have great smelling clothing after. another trick i learned is using baking soda on my french bulldog for bathing or fleas. they have very sensitive skin and it is not harmful and neutralizes fleas on the spot.

clear mineral oil and lemon can be used as a furniture polish. it works amazingly, i was astonished how well it worked. you can use white distilled vinegar to clean glass surfaces or something metal. i did this chandelear that was just dusty and grimmy, took a ragg with the vinegar on it and scrubbed it all away and left it sparkling. the brass was shinny and not tarnished any more. im proud of what IJCSA has taught me and so is my family, espescially my wife. thank you IJCSA. iuf you need a certified green cleaning master, check out IJCSA registry by clicking the link.Click Here
