Finding the right home cleaning service starts with finding a company that listens to you. Whether you need weekly house cleaning, a one-time deep clean, or help before or after a move, a professional residential cleaning service can make caring for your home easier. Ask what is included, discuss any areas that need extra attention, and make sure the schedule works for you.

IJCSA members offer home cleaning and maid services for a variety of household needs. When choosing a cleaner, ask about their experience, insurance, cleaning products, and how they handle special requests. A good cleaning company should explain its services and pricing clearly so you know what to expect before the first visit.

A clean atmosphere is one that should be offered no matter where we go. Imagine visting a place, any place at all, that has no cleaning or janitorial staff. Gross!

The janitorial (or custodial) staff offers a safe and sanitary environment for our children, staff and any visitors to a school, office, or any corporate setting.

Janitorial cleaning ranges anywhere from keeping hallways free of debris or slipping hazards, bathrooms sanitation and even can include lawn maintenance.

Janitorial services are a very important role in our daily lives. They help keep us safe and healthy while also providing a clean aesthetic to the places we work, visit and learn.

Cleaning employees and staff play a vital role in keeping the environment safe and healthy. Bloodborne pathogens are germs that can be found in human blood and other potentially infectious materials, and they can cause serious diseases. While doing their daily work, cleaning staff may come into contact with blood or contaminated surfaces. By understanding the risks of bloodborne pathogens, employees can spot potential hazards and take the right steps to protect themselves and those around them.
Proper training is important because employees need to know how to safely handle contaminated materials, waste, and surfaces. Employees should understand the importance of wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), practicing good hand hygiene, and following proper cleaning and disinfection procedures. They should also know that they should never reach into garbage with their hands or handle potentially contaminated sharp objects without proper precautions. Following these practices can help reduce the risk of accidental exposure and prevent the spread of infection.
Knowing about bloodborne pathogens also helps create a safer workplace for employees, residents, clients, and visitors. Employees should know what to do if an exposure occurs, including washing the affected area immediately, reporting the incident, and following their employer's exposure-control procedures. Regular education and training help cleaning staff remain aware of potential hazards and perform their responsibilities safely and professionally. Knowledge, proper procedures, PPE, and safe cleaning practices are essential for reducing the risk of bloodborne pathogen exposure.

When most people picture a doctor's office or a clinic, they think about the doctors and nurses, not the cleaning crew. But in a healthcare setting the cleaning is a huge part of keeping people safe. Medical facilities have a steady stream of sick patients coming through, and the germs they bring in end up on counters, door handles, bed rails, and waiting room chairs. If those high-touch surfaces aren't cleaned and disinfected the right way, a place that is supposed to help people get better can actually end up making them sick.

That is why medical cleaning is really its own skill. It isn't the same as wiping down a normal office. You have to know which disinfectants actually kill the germs you are dealing with, how long the product needs to sit to do its job, and how to clean a room without dragging contamination from one area into the next. Bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious material have to be handled the way OSHA and the CDC lay out, and the people doing the work need the right PPE and training. Cutting corners in a hospital, dental office, or nursing home isn't just sloppy, it can put patients and staff at real risk of infection. Doing it the right way also protects the facility itself. A clean, properly disinfected office builds trust with patients, keeps the business compliant, and cuts down on the spread of healthcare-associated infections. That is exactly why it pays to hire a trained, certified medical cleaning provider instead of treating it like regular janitorial work. If you are looking for a cleaning company that takes infection control seriously, you can find certified members through the IJCSA Janitorial Service Directory here: https://www.ijcsa.org/Janitorial-Service-Directory-Find-A-Janitorial-Service-JanitorialServices

    Universal Precautions and Bloodborne Pathogens

Custodians and other cleaning staff must understand and follow universal precautions when working around bloodborne pathogens, including Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). All blood and body fluids must be treated as potentially infectious.

Prevention is key when cleaning surfaces and floors to prevent the spread of viruses. Employees should always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and use caution when handling sharps. Never reach into or push down the contents of a waste container with your hands, as this can result in accidental exposure or injury.

Finally, it is important to use the correct chemical product that is effective against resilient viruses and other pathogens. Microfiber cloths and microfiber mop heads should also be changed regularly, particularly when moving from room to room, to prevent the potential spread of viruses or other contaminants from one space to another.

Properly cleaning healthcare facilities is important because the spaces are used mostly by people vulnerable to illness and infections. Healthcare spaces can frequently have contact with germs, bacteria, viruses, body fluids and other contaminants. Professional healthcare cleaning helps maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Healthcare cleaning requires attention to frequently used areas like door handles, handrails, light switches, countertops, bathroom fixtures and other commonly touched areas should be cleaned and disinfected according to facility's procedures.  Cleaning staff should also understand proper chemical use, personal protective equipment, hand hygiene, waste handling and the method of preventing cross contamination.

The cleaning technicians need proper training to work around patients, healthcare workers and visitors. Technicians should understand bloodborne pathogens, chemical hazards, appropriate cleaning and disinfection procedures and understand the importance of following established protocols.

A healthcare cleaning program requires consistency and attention to details when on duty. There must also be clean communication among technicians and management to help identify areas that need additional attention.

People walk into healthcare facilities expecting safe, hygienic surroundings. In healthcare settings, the smallest lapse in sanitation can lead to major health risk. That's why properly cleaning healthcare facilities is very important but also a critical safety measure.

Properly cleaning healthcare facilities is the first line of defense against HAIs, protecting vulnerable patients from dangerous pathogens. When surfaces, patient rooms, and waiting areas are meticulously disinfected, the risk of cross contamination drops dramatically. Routine maintenance prevents germ outbreaks and saves patient lives by stopping infection before they start.

Beyond patient safety, a sterile environment is crucial for protecting doctors, nurses, support staff who work in healthcare facilities. Routine, thorough ensures that medical professionals can perform their duties safely without becoming vectors for disease themselves or taking illnesses home to their families. Furthermore, meeting high disinfection standards allows healthcare facilities to pass strict government inspections, avoid costly legal penalties, and maintain their operational licenses. Trainings such as medical cleaning, bloodborne pathogens are very informative.
