It is important for cleaning employees to be aware of bloodborne pathogens and the risks that come from them. But first we need to understand what they are. Bloodborne pathogens are disease-causing microorganisms in human blood which include HBV and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

It's essential for employers to have knowledge on the procedures that are used to be cautious to help prevent the spread of bloodborne pathogens. One way could be by taking special training classes to increase their knowledge on precautions they can take. Without these training classes the employees could be at risk of getting infected if the proper measures aren't taken.

In conclusion following the right steps when dealing with body fluids/ blood could prevent life threatening diseases in the workplace.

While there are many places to locate certified residential cleaners in your area, there are not many directories that you can trust to provide you with trained specialists. Locating someone that knows how to clean an area is much easier than finding someone that you would trust to appropriately apply cleaner to areas in your home. Experience is great, but specialized training drives home the idea of safety in a residential setting and the legal issues with avoiding damage to your personal items.

Hiring a cleaning service that is not properly trained can also result in the improper use of cleaning practices, time wasted, and a higher direct cost for you as the customer. Taking the time to select and pay a company to provide services, only to have them not deliver to expectations can be a grueling processes. It can not only leave you disappointed in the cleaning process, but it can also scar you from wanting cleaning services in the future.

Ensuring proper training for your cleaning company can also minimize injuries (and insurance claims) in your home and foster a better working relationship  between you and the people tasked with keeping your home safe and clean. Having a company that is insured is great, but would it not be better to locate companies that don't rely on their insurance to mitigate mistakes within your home? Selecting a company that has taken it upon themselves to expand their education in their industry should be top priority anytime that you are trusting someone to enter your home.

The IJCSA is an industry leader in training for the cleaning profession. It is extremely important for employees and staff to know and understand the importance of Bloodborne pathogens. Knowing how to use universal precautions by assuming all bloodborne pathogens are infected by performing protective practices, keeps employees and staff safe. All staff and employees benefit from knowing the proper procedures to clean and disinfect the contaminated area. Having the the proper training and knowledge of who to contact when exposed to bloodborne pathogens could be the difference between life and death.

Diseases that can be found in bloodborne pathogens, include, but are not limited to: Hepatitis B (HBV) and Human Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV).  These pathogenic microorganism can be exposed to the human body through, mucous membrane. This is why universal precautions should always be used when handling bloodborne pathogens, assuming it is contaminated to avoid possible spread and exposure of any possible diseases.

Protective practices like wearing PPE, having and using color coded labeling of bags and bins, and disinfecting any tools used to disinfect the area, helps to avoid any careless acts of spreading the bloodborne pathogens outside of the contained area. After removing gloves, hands should be washed immediately. Employees and staff all should be aware that if they believe they have been exposed, immediately contact their supervisor and physician.

Having the training and knowledge of how to properly handle bloodborne pathogens is a very important part of cleaning and should always be handled properly by cleaning staff and employees.  We come in contact with these situations more often than most. Not knowing how to handle bloodborne pathogens could be detrimental to the employee and staff’s health.

A cleaner or cleaning technician in a healthcare setting plays one of the most important roles in healthcare. Healthcare cleaning technicians are front line in the prevention and possible spread of bloodborne pathogens to the public, staff and anyone else coming into contact with infected materials.

Healthcare settings need structured and professional cleaning protocols by trained technicians. Without these protocols there would be spread of infectious disease to the masses. Healthcare settings must maintain cleanliness.

Patients as well as staff must feel confident, they will not contract illness while visiting or working the healthcare facility. Especially if illness is avoidable by cleaning technicians and staff following BPS (Bloodborne Pathogen Standards).

There a lot of reasons why cleaning the healthcare facilities is so important:

First when we say healthcare facilities, we already know in our mind it is a place where care is given for different reasons, it could be sickness, pregnancy, simple blood work etc…. And we know the bacteria and viruses are very frequent in these places therefore every effort should be made to make sure these facilities are properly cleaned to eliminate or reduce the growth of these infectious diseases.

The patients go to these facilities for different reasons, and we don’t want any patient to acquire any other infections than what he or she already has. However, if these places are not properly cleaned it could lead the spread of infection and a lot of people could get sicker or sick.

Also the visitors and staff, leave their homes to go to these facilities thinking these places are properly cleaned, and I think every effort should be made that is so as we don’t want them to catch anything in these facilities, and take back to their love ones.

All in all the management of these healthcare facilities must ensure the EVS staff are well trained, and these facilities are properly cleaned for the safety of the patients, visitors and staff.
