LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - It’s the last weekend of winter and on Wednesday we’ll be welcoming spring.
With warmer temperatures on the way, it’s time to start thinking about spring cleaning. While scrubbing, dusting and mopping, it’s important to stay healthy.
First, check the labels. The American Lung Association suggests choosing products that have no, or low amounts of things called VOC’s, volatile organic compounds. Many cleaning products, such as aerosol sprays and chlorine bleach, release these dangerous chemicals. The gases can irritate your eyes, nose and throat, make you nauseous and can even damage your central nervous system.
Also, make sure the room or space you are cleaning is ventilated. If you're using harsher cleaners like bleach, wear gloves or other protective clothing to avoid contact with your skin.

There’s a lot for concern there, but depending on who you ask, the uncertainty of a disinfected hotel room can easily top the list. No matter how much a housekeeper dusts, vacuums and scrubs, there will always be pesky microbes and allergens left in a room’s air.
Enter the ever-innovative Danes, and their new Hotel Ottilia, in recently revamped Carlsberg City. Each of the boutique’s 155 rooms utilizes a technology called “CleanCoat,” which breaks down bacteria, makes housekeepers’ lives easier and helps you sleep better.
It’s an invisible, odorless, antibacterial spray with an active ingredient of titanium dioxide (normally found in sunscreen and food additives) that removes contaminants from a room.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Cincinnati, names the Bengals, Hamilton County and Aramark Business Facilities, the company that provides janitorial services at the stadium.
Scott Poston, of Fort Thomas, attended the Oct. 14, 2018 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with his son. He says he's been a season ticket holder for more than 20 years.
Poston said he slipped when he was walking into the bathroom in Section 149.
According to the lawsuit, here’s what caused him to fall:
Someone vomited inside a stall, and stadium personnel tried to clean it up using a substance, called “D-Vour.”

With the recent polar vortex and all the cold weather still hanging around much of the nation, spring cleaning might be the last thing on your mind. And that's fine, for now.
But before you know it, the sun will be shining bright, birds will be chirping relentlessly and flowers will be budding. You'll definitely want to open the windows, get some fresh air and scrub away all the grimy remnants from the long cold winter.
