Healthcare Facilities cleanliness is important to staff, patients & visitors. As we must look at several factors. Facilities require a more precise level of cleaning than office buildings because of issues related to regulation, liability, medical treatment, contamination, and infection control. Other concerns include hazardous chemicals, sharps—such as needles and glass—plus the collection and disposal of various types of medical waste.

It is imperative that Janitorial Staff are trained to prevent cross contamination on there part and keep staff, patients, visitors and themselves safe. Proper cleaning techniques is vital to insure the well being and safety of all.  Implementing your cleaning best practices can help stop the spread of diseases in health care facilities.

The responsibility and risks inherent in the healthcare facility should not be taken lightly; the possibility of illness, death, and liability looms if janitorial staff do not follow proper procedures. Theses are the solo reasons why healthcare cleanliness is so important. Wondering when to clean your facility after one of your staff members has tested positive with the Coronavirus? It all depends on the needs of the business and the aftermath of work involved.

The cleaning would need to take place immediately after the facility has been cleared of the population of the business. If the cleaning can not take place that same day or within 7 days, ensure no one enters the facility until cleaning has concluded.

Having the correct cleaning team will require a company with attention to detail. Cleaning of all touch points is very much important, but after the population returns to the building, daily cleaning and sanitizing of every surface will require more time and cost more than the previous routine cleaning. If we think we can go back to how things were before, we are fooling ourselves. Now more than ever, we have to ensure we give more attention to the cleaning crews that help protect the employees and customers from germs and viruses.

Excellent Customer Service is essential that business owner and employees alike comprehend this particular behavior.  As the mentioned in the training video stated “SEC” which stands for Smile, Eye contact and Comment.  It’s necessary to always smile at customers, even when they are having a bad day.

Stay positive at all times. Positive behavior is very contagious and people will begin to reflect on this posture. Listen to the customer and be sensitive to any concerns they may have.

It is important that all of the Work Team that we assemble be adequately instructed in the prevention of Bloodborne Pathogens, always in accordance with OSHA Standard Standards, which will result in an effective reduction and minimization of the potential for occupational exposure to Pathogens.

In this sense, it is necessary to inform our Team that Pathogens are microorganisms present in human blood such as Hepatitis B, HIV, AIDS and that if they come into contact with Blood or Body Fluid through the mucosa such as the mouth, nose , and cuts etc, we are exposed to infection.

We must act with caution to be able to eliminate to the maximum the risk of infectious diseases by exposure, so we must take into account the use of personal protective equipment, not to smoke, nor to eat in the work area, not to recycle the towels used in cleaning, properly disinfecting the equipment used in cleaning, washing hands thoroughly after removing gloves, among others.

We must not forget the use of personal protective equipment, such as gloves, masks, glasses, uniform and any other necessary protective equipment. Likewise, keep us updated on this matter and comply with all the regulations, laws, and administrative procedures that may arise.
