Once Great-Jan becomes green clean certified, utilization of green cleaning practices will affect the cleaning solutions, tools and equipment, and standard operating procedures used at the company.

Great-Jan will use cleaning solutions that release very little VOC’s as well as no hazardous gas like ammonia, keeping the air quality generally cleaner than if strong chemical disinfectant solutions were used.

Great-Jan will utilize tools and equipment that are environmentally responsible and EPA Safer Choice or Green Seal certified. An example of this is using HEPA vacuums and making sure the model of vacuum has received the Carpet and Rug Institute’s Seal of Approval/Green label certification. A great HEPA vacuum that has this seal of approval is the ProTeam 107308 Super Coach Pro 6 HEPA Backpack Vacuum. Microfiber towels and mops may be utilized to effectively grab dirt and bacteria by mechanical means, rather than depend on toxic chemicals to loosen the soil.

Great-Jan will inform its cleaning professionals about standard operating procedures. For example, cleaning professionals will be informed about using cold water to rinse microfiber towels and mopheads to preserve the integrity of the material. The company will also train all cleaning professionals on the proper dilution ratios for cleaning solutions as well as inform professionals of what the dwell times for the solutions are.  Great-Jan will practice responsible waste disposal, placing trash and recyclables in their proper areas. The company will also be utilizing biodegradable bags when applicable.

Once Great-Jan acquires green cleaning certification, all the above will be implemented (microfiber towels/mopheads are up in the air, additional research needs to be done) to make any environment Great-Jan serves a safe and healthy environment to work in.
