Keeping yourself safe from Blood borne pathogens

The danger of Bloodborne pathogens in the work place is something to take seriously. This article will dive into how to keep you safe while cleaning locations  that have a reasonable possibility of having a chance of being exposed to an infectious pathogen, how to be ready for the dreaded exposure and how employers are to be prepared.  The safety of our employees and clients is our top priority. Let's dive into the important information. 

OSHA's bloodborne standard has been created to to keep all worker's safe by using the universal precautions for protecting people who have a reasonable possibility of being exposed to blood or other bodily fluid. The reasonable possibility of exposure includes, but is not limited to: soiled laundry, taking out trash, cleaning up infectious materials. Most exposure is through the mouth and nose or breaks in the skins. blood All times consider all blood, mucus and saliva as infectious.  At every location that their is reasonable concern of possible exposure should have an OSHA exposure Control Plan on site so employees can act appropriately if exposed. Records of the exposure should be maintained for 3 yrs after any exposure.  

The dangers of HIV and HBV are the most Deadly of the diseases we are talking about. They are the reasons you should contact your doctor right away if you feel that you may have been exposed. Your health is our top priority and this needs to be taken seriously. Always be sure to use a Betco Disinfectant to ensure that no pathogens are left on the surface you cleaned.
