The importance of cleaning employees & staff knowing about bloodborne pathogens.

It is extremely important for anyone in the cleaning field to be familiar with bloodborne pathogens.  Without proper training and education on the matter, you could potentially put yourself and many others at risk of human diseases such as HBV and HIV.

Many people are unaware of the many means by which you could become contaminated.  In the cleaning industry, we are exposed to just about every aspect of the dangers that doctors, and nurses are.  You need to be mindful of the fact that not only blood, but other bodily fluids contain these bloodborne pathogens.

Wearing proper PPE at all times is crucial in helping to prevent contamination.  Learning and following your employer's exposure control plan is equally as necessary.  Continued education on the subject of these pathogens will only help you in all aspects of your cleaning career.
