The Importance of Cleaning Staff Knowing about Bloodborne Pathogens

20 Jun 2022 6:20 PM | Lisa Hall

Bloodborne pathogens are pathogenic microorganisms that can cause disease and possibly death in humans if not handled properly.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention established a "Universal Precaution" approach to help reduce the risk to not only those in the medical fields but also to those who clean the areas where bloodborne pathogens may be found.

It is important that staff have the proper training in what personal protective equipment to wear as well as how to handle contaminated laundry, needles, blood and other bodily fluids to minimize the risk to themselves and to others.
